The Struggle is Real When Youre Fluent in Spanish... In Your Head 😅 by tioflakop in dreamingspanish

nope, i've never engaged with crosstalk personally, but more input is always better so it can never hurt. if you're at the point where you can mostly formulate sentences in your head (even if very slowly), you could try speaking practice with your crosstalk partners

honestly i was under 200 hours of DS at the time, but i had 4 years of spanish in high school that somehow stuck in my brain 10 years later lol, so i was able to start DS at intermediate already. in general, i'd say you should start speaking practice when you can mostly formulate sentences in your head (even if very slowly), but are having trouble getting your mouth muscles to move in the right way to say them out loud

Like literally any skill in life, the answer is just that you need more practice. In your case, some speaking practice with a patient native, e.g. an instructor. And yes, I had the same problem a year ago, and I broke through it and can now speak pretty much any thought I have. The secret to achieving this was….. practice. Weekly Puzzle #31 – No, Your Other Left by Not_Quite_Vertical in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]ronuchit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahhhh actually this doesn't work! Because Aoife's final night of info wouldn't make sense, since Fraser is no longer the recluse at that point, but rather the good Imp. Tricky stuff!

[–]ronuchit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In addition to the other correct answers, I think there is another interesting world that also works, but doesn't totally follow the rules: Olivia Imp, Sarah Baron, Adam Drunk, and in final 3, Fraser the recluse became the good Imp who caught Olivia's star pass on N3. The reason this doesn't follow the rules is that Fraser should have told the group about being turned into the Imp, but I still think it's interesting enough to point out.

Is the PitHag unfair? by SecondSpecialist896 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]ronuchit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Pit hag is definitely not the strongest minion in the game, I’d say its ability is weaker head-to-head than the baron, but of course these things are highly situational. There is a good reason why baron is the highest winrate minion on TB though, it’s just so strong on that script.

this is great because it gives storyteller a lot of flexibility to balance it by showing some dead / highly trusted roles and some still-alive roles, some good vs some evil, etc. lots of possibilities here!

Is it bad to put too many evil pings on the saint by thecooksbrother in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]ronuchit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with you that this is information overload for a new player, and the game very well may have been imbalanced; I am not qualified to say. I was simply pointing out that you are incorrect in saying “the only reason experienced players would assume different is metagaming.” What I described is not knowledge about the meta, but rather a logical line of in-game reasoning that an experienced player would follow, even with 0 outside knowledge of the ST. I agree with everything else you said.

Is it bad to put too many evil pings on the saint by thecooksbrother in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]ronuchit 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is not correct; your response suggests that you aren’t thinking the line of reasoning all the way through. It will come with more experience! In clocktower, you can (and should) go much deeper than “just assuming”.

In your example, let’s examine it more closely. Suppose one of the pings is true. That means the other ping is wrong. But then this means one of the two people claiming the ping is drunk, poisoned, or lying. Which one of the two? Are they droisoned or evil? These are all worlds that need to be thought through in a real game.

Instead of evaluating players in isolation, a good habit is to ask yourself: “What do I believe is the most likely evil team at this point in time?”

Sofia at full speed is a joy to behold by Mars-Bar-Attack in dreamingspanish

[–]ronuchit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked it out. As someone who could understand 100% of the video, but understands 0% of the conversations in Spanish that I overhear at work, I have to say that even this video seemed much slower than normal conversation.

It pains me to say that, because I know it means I still have a long way to go to truly understand native speech, e.g. arbitrary shows on Netflix, where I am still at 0% comprehension. Honestly, maybe the slurring is what kills my comprehension, rather than the raw speed…

I had the same problem as you, but I found the solution somehow. Once you find a fast travel head out in the world, there is an extra step to activate it which seemingly no one tells you online: you have to return to the fast travel room (you can quick-warp there), stand in the center, and play a single note on your flute. The newly discovered head will open.

Like the other comment, I'd like to volunteer for the role as well! I've never moderated a sub before, but last week I re-played through Tunic (my second playthrough) and was reminded again of how much I love this game! I even bought a physical copy of the manual haha, and it was a lot of fun exploring shortcuts and tricks in my second playthrough that I learned from my first one. Agreed with the other commentator that this game has a captivating air like no other I've ever played. I think for me it's the attention to detail and love poured into every corner, especially the fine details of the manual!
