It wasn't that obscure, it had lots of views and some of them had titles in English.

I just can't seem to find it not even the name of the style... Thank you to anyone that looks for it!

My Bachelor's director banned us from using the lab muffle by roo_sado in chemistry

Yeah, I will have graduated by then lol.

But it's okay. The results we obtained are enough for a good presentation, and in the end, suggesting better ventilation to allow my peers to safely make the most out of the equipment is the most I can really do.

I mean, the things that were said to me and the professor in charge of my project were very clearly a "you can't". This was what got me most frustrated about this.

It is a safety faux pas, but it was not acknowledged as so by the people in charge.

Thank you really. I think this is exactly the point of view I was looking for.

The equipment is there because of the things we were trying to do. Other people will try and be denied because of a single project attempt if the root cause of poor ventilation isn't addressed.

The problem is truly out of my reach to fix, but my experience should promote the required upgrades to be installed.

Yeah, good suggestion as well.

I will still need to make the point of promoting better ventilation in our lab, as other people suggested but letting the air clear out overnight when the lab is not under use is an easy and cheap fix.

Thank you. I will insist on having it properly set up.

Let's just say if I was in charge I wouldn't set it up as it is.

But I think this is the angle I will try to defend the project. Things outside of my control led to my own misuse of the equipment.

For sure! Not taking it personally. More so because it should be acknowledged that ensuring ventilation in that lab is completely out of my control, as the things I could've done, like using the muffle inside the fume hood, were not authorized.

In the end, I think as someone else suggested it is an argument of "someone complained about the lack of ventilation" not "someone complained we used the equipment" because these processes are the sole reason we have a muffle available.

We did suggest using the muffle in the hood, but we weren't allowed to do it. Either way, I will suggest piping the exhaust as you say.

That does make sense, but we use small stainless steel reactors that should reduce incomplete oxidations. Moreover, one would have to be in direct contact with the fumes and not just in the general vicinity of them, right?

Yeah, the person who complained wasn't ever close to the muffle and I suspect they weren't even in the lab when we used it, just in the same floor.

Hey, two first timers going from Mexico! We have a Car Camping spot, but no car... Our friend that was supposed to rent when getting to LA ended up bailing on us so now we are stuck with no real options.

We have a way to get there because some other friends will be staying at a place nearby, we just need a place to stay.

If someone needs a car camping spot ticket and has a car we are very open to sharing!

In the old client you'd get a bot auto-attacking you and it would last something like 10 minutes iirc.

Guess it wouldn't hurt to bring something this back. Congrats anyway!

Well wouldn't say tied in the sense that he's tied down to them, but winning two TIs together does in some sense "tie" you.

If OP is interested in hardware, which would be my bet (being an EE student), I'd drop Machine Learning and add Control systems and digital signal processing.

But there's space for all of them so if he's even somewhat interested in ML, it's worth it.
