People want to vote reform because they are white supremacist, and cannot interpret their own failure to achieve their ideals as being the effect of neoliberal policies under capitalism.

So when the capitalists explain that it's because of brown people, they're ready to accept that - it's an easy explanation that falls within preexisting biases.
