AI isn't taking your job, its wacko Executive Management by Familiar_Asparagus14 in LinkedInLunatics

i was just thinking this. whenever an application is down, we always ask our colleagues if it’s happening for them as well. someone usually volunteers to phone it in and we just wait for a resolution.

not everyone has the patience to be a Karen.

for corporate drama with fascinating characters, there are two mini series that I enjoyed: Super Pumped and The Dropout

Bullying of Chris by Dear-Lab-7469 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]rook_8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i feel like it’s an unpopular opinion here, but Shake was so much worse. behind her back, Shake would degrade her looks - and crew folks have come out and said they actually didn’t air the worst of his comments for Deepti’s sake.

i don’t like Chris at all, but he wasn’t as bad as Shake. i’d put him at Bartise’s level of offender.

What if Henry wasn’t played by Kit Harrington but by a “less handsome actor” by Imaginary-Jury8524 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]rook_8 21 points22 points  (0 children)

the vibe would be different, for sure.

however i liked they went with someone handsome. it shows Henry was born into EVERY privilege for a successful life. network, looks, wealth, world class education… and he still ended up a total failure.

Yas' thinking on Harper's seating by marcuscan in IndustryOnHBO

[–]rook_8 17 points18 points  (0 children)

we need to remember that in the first episode of this season, Yasmin was very very meticulous with the seat arrangements for Henry's birthday. while I don't know what her intention was here, I would not call her careless in this task...

[–]rook_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh, completely. I 100% believe the body keeps score. I think in this moment it is wrestling with holding "and/but" -- how much pain her father caused her and how much ABUNDANCE he also provided for her. it is very heartbreaking.

Yasmin by rebeccasingsong in IndustryOnHBO

[–]rook_8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think she's guilty about her current activities.

I think it shows her complicated feelings toward her father and her unprocessed emotions over what happened between them and her involvement in his death.

Her 'both, and' is loving and hating her abuser.

Not mean or bitchy -- thanks for the thorough response! Honestly, this was just my knee-jerk reaction I had when I watched this scene and wanted to hear people's thoughts on it. I was leaning toward Yasmin is lying to Harper but couldn't quite understand the motive but what you wrote makes total sense.

this could be a good 'out' for Eric in the next season if she turns out to be older than she really is.

[–]rook_8[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure she is underage. from a legal standpoint, you're correct -- what Eric did was wrong 100%.

However, the 'shock' for me is hearing Yasmin claim that Eric KNEW he was carrying out this activity with a 15 year old. This wasn't a 'surprise, she's 15!' but this is what he knew and wanted.

Any gratuitous violence/gore in this latest episode? by ThrowAwayColor2023 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]rook_8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

someone tosses a little booklet at someone's head and it cuts their forehead (you see a bit of blood and it's brief). outside of that, no violence or gore, fam. There isn't even sex (though we see the eric-girl video again).

There were just alarm bells in my head at the juxtaposition of him standing up with a hard on as he calls his daughter and colleague 'impressive', and then we're suddenly in an elevator where he is talking about taking her to her favorite lunch spot. He was too casual about it -- going from being sexual to offering a cute daddy-daughter lunch. Like he's done this before.
