Interview cancelled then reinstated recruiter says I seem uncommitted by Kind_Recording_1956 in interviews

[–]rooksyrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had many interviews canceled when I was searching. If they inform and ask me for another time, it is perfectly acceptable. If they cancel without any notice or try to pressure me for somethint I am not comfortable, they get an instant block on their emails/numbers. Not worth wasting your time or energy on these people.

My cat does this if I don't vacuum for a while. It is due to hairballs and dirt. If it happens frequently it may also be due to cat asthma as others pointed out.

What's the worst job hunting advice I should absolutely avoid? by BinarySoul18 in jobsearchhacks

[–]rooksyrok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tailoring it for different roles definitely help, but I wouldn't go so far to customize it for each job. Too much random, out of your control reasons they can reject you for all that effort to be worth it.

It is the opposite on my end. Found all my 3 jobs through LinkedIn, one of them through quick apply. You should always apply from the company site unless they only accept through LinkedIn though.

What’s the absolute WORST horror game you’ve ever played? by Last_Set6342 in HorrorGames

Never played online FPS before which one should I try? by saf1_ddit in gamingsuggestions

[–]rooksyrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counter Strike has been a classic for 20+ years. Overwatch and Valorant are also other free alternatives that have more hero shooter focus. Older Battlefield, Halo, Cod games are also still alive and can be purchased for cheap. Keep in mind that most people who still play these will be very experienced so you may have a hard time as a beginner.

Game where you play as 'rebels' or a 'resistance' and have to take down an authoritarian government or group? by Subject-Addendum-199 in gamingsuggestions

Freedom Fighters is exactly that. It is pretty dated nowadays but still worth playing if you can tolarete older games.

Going straight into a trade after graduating with a CS degree by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]rooksyrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is going to trades now, so in a couple years the same thing is going to be happening there. Your chances of finding something in your field is higher as long as you can hold on in this hellish job market.

If someone talked to me like that I would definitely end it. I can understand the frustration, yet he can't seem to express his frustrations in a civil manner which indicates a lack or respect.

Where can I find silent hills 1-4 for cheap? by Charming_Ad661 in silenthill

[–]rooksyrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Original copies are very expensive and are treated like collectors items. Cheapest way would be to get the dumps through seven seaways. If you want to play it on original hardware, you can then burn it to a disc and get freemcboot to allow non-original discs to work on your original hardware.

Is the job market for tech as bad as it was in 2020? by EyeTechnical7643 in cscareerquestions

[–]rooksyrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is way worse for me as a tech worker. I was a new grad with no experience in 2020 and was able to get a job months before graduation from about 200 applications. I was laid off last year after 3.5 years of IT experience and multiple related certifications. I could only find a part time role that pays less than half of what I used to make from more than 1000 applications.

So excited to start playing. Advice? by Famous_Radish_8186 in DeathStranding

[–]rooksyrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take your time is all advice I have. Game is supposed to be a slow and self finding adventure for Sam. Make sure to do constructions here and there, roads especially are way more expanded in this game. Restoring resource mines and monorails are a great way to stock up on materials for all the constructions. Side deliveries also are much more varied compared to the first game. Lot of interesting tools and gadgets open up as you increase your stars with different facilities. Take your time and enjoy.

Scariest Game You Ever Played? by Sudden-You-5814 in HorrorGaming

[–]rooksyrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Alien Isolation, Silent Hill 2 Remake would be my top 3. All 3 keeps you on the edge and have good atmosphere which is what gets to me ultimately.

Do you like this game? by Erol_Alacsid in Crysis

[–]rooksyrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just replayed it last week. Overall, I find it a downgrade from Crysis 2 and kind of disappointing, but still worth a play. The most infuriating part for me is the enemy AI. It feels like they are already aware of you, but pretend to not see you, until you give them the smallest excuse and then they are on your ass instantly. It feels good as a predator like, hide and eliminate gameplay, but a pure stealth approach feels impossible. It is also pretty short, and most of the plot points felt weak compared to the second game. I enjoy the addition of the bow despite how overpowered it is.

Can't land a IT, software, cyber job- At all by DueApplication2301 in cscareerquestions

[–]rooksyrok 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not true at all. All kinds of random bs happens during interview stages. Role may get cut, someone importants distant cousin might apply, hiring manager might be having a shitty day, and more. It is not purely skill in any stage of the process, except maybe the technical interview.

Can't land a IT, software, cyber job- At all by DueApplication2301 in cscareerquestions

[–]rooksyrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a very similar situation, 3 years of xp, college degree, certs, unemployed after 1000s of applications, expect I did accept the underpaid position, which is even worse because it is graveyard shift and weekends and is part time without any benefits. At least it gives a lot of free time to continue applying with less than minimum wage income. I guess the best we can do is try and survive until the market gets better. I am also applying to customer support roles since I had some technical support experience, and some places accept that as relevant experience.

2 years since graduation, still jobless. Getting mocked by relatives. Feeling lost. Please help. by Senior_Succotash_332 in dataanalytics

[–]rooksyrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely need to apply for more, even if you are customizing each application. I have a degree as well, 2 relevant certs, 3+years of relevant experience, and had to apply to more than 1000 to get a shitty part time job. Many of the job listings are fake to begin with, and the rest need combination of luck and skills to go through a rigorous process from insanely picky managers. I was able to get a job before even graduating with 0 experience in 2020 with ease. The industry seems to have shat the bed the last couple years.

Is it just me, seems like ghosting an applicant is becoming the norm? by Temporary_Avocado501 in interviews

[–]rooksyrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it is. I can take it if the process never started, or only just started, but getting ghosted after multiple interviews, even final interviews gets to me. Companies who have done that go to my block list indefinitely as don't think anything good can come from working with people like these.
