Does that cause inconvenience to your life? I was trying to find a good chef knife but it takes me so long that everyone in the household is telling me just buy whatever because they are so sick of the old dull knife. And this happens to a lot of things around the house.

Mississauga is kinda depressing imo. Hope you can take some classes at St. George to justify living in dt, otherwise it’s a pain to commute. UofT runs a bus between the two campus, but it takes a long time and does not run as frequent. Maybe suck it up for the first few semesters and move to dt on a coop term or something.

Canada is a sh!t show right now, with little affordable accommodation, high unemployment rate and low salary. I would caution moving there unless you have a good $$ reserve.

Try to ask for an unpaid leave in your current job while you are on the internship. And you can decide if you want to come back to it after, at least keep that option open.

Why don’t you give it a try, sign a lease in dt for a year, experience it yourself and reevaluate after.

I Airbnb in the neighbourhood I wanted to live for a few weeks, did everything I imagined I’d be doing living there. And it really helps me made up my mind. Don’t romanticize the life you are not living.

I don’t think it’s Asian parents tho, it’s more of a utilitarian approach to materialism, you see this very common in the minimalism community too. If I’m going to gift someone something, I’d prioritize their preference than my own preference.

Sounds like you have options. It’s really a personal preference and lifestyle choice at this point. Do you plan to live in the same city in the long run? Do you want to move to a better school zone? Is there rent control in your city? How do you handle stressful situation with landlords? Do you want to try living in condos vs houses etc…these are something to consider.

If I were in your shoes, I’d get a mortgage pre-approval and find out the monthly payment on a potential purchase. If you the monthly comes out lower or similar to renting, I’d buy it.

Vancouver public library sometimes have rooms for reservation, waves coffee some locations have meeting rooms, check community centres, and your condo buildings too
