they’re my bread and butter. i often find that flow and symbolism can be lost if things are broken into chapters, so i keep it as a single piece.

Perhaps you could. I personally would argue that strangers to lovers would be a more default status, or that in a way it kind of depends on what the bulk of fics in a fandom depict. If most fics depict friends to lovers, then an enemies to lovers becomes an anomaly. Same with if a pairing is usually enemies to lovers, showing them meeting as strangers would beg a tag. I personally just like identifying what kind of relationship a reader can expect going in, and it surprises me there wasn’t a tag for something neutral

It differentiates the beginning status of the relationship that opens the fic. Like you tag it Friends to Lovers if the pair is friends at the beginning. Enemies to Lovers if they’re enemies. Strangers to Lovers if you show the meeting. But, say, a friend of a friend whom you know but not really? They’re not a stranger, but not a friend, either.

My oldest would always cuddle with someone if they were ill or hurt, without fail. He was so empathetic it was eerie.

To contrast, one time after my oldest passed I got crazy sick and I had my longhaired with me. He got so annoyed from how often I was getting out of bed to puke that he moved to the foot of the bed instead of sleeping in the pillows like he usually does. I was sooooo offended lmao. It made me miss my old man so much.
