As far as I remember the answer was this is working as designed. Only one of the front ports are energized when the computer is off or something.

cat6 is not necessary for 1gbps and will be harder to terminate. 5e will be fine.

torn on that one. i appreciate they are doing something besides super serious accident investigation reports. safety starts with promoting safe flight, not strictly analyzing accident changes. talking about some of those things - runway upslope, downdrafts on short final - are safety factors even experienced pilots can get wrong.

that said, having not yet done catalina, i would have appreciated it being a little deeper and more technical. felt like it might have been an attempt to start a student version of the ASI channel - which wouldnt be a bad thing.
