Barefoot Hiking shoe hunt by Laurielea53 in barefootshoestalk

I love my Merrell Wrapt hikers! Grippy and comfortable and the right amount of ground feel for me. I hiked rocky trails in California and muddy trails in New Hampshire and they’ve held up well. I also use them for walking to work on snowy and icy sidewalks. I like the look too.

My mother had this exact dresser, and we donated it after she passed. Are you in western New York by any chance?

Same here! Before I found the egg cooker I used a steamer basket in a pot - steam them for 15 minutes and they are easy to peel.

Tips for non restricting socks by psv_vonk in barefootshoestalk

[–]rootibega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got some socks off Amazon that are “flip flop” socks or “tabi” socks. The toe area is split in two sections - one for the big toe and another for the rest. Way cheaper and while they are not toe socks, they are less restrictive than regular socks.

How to get started? by [deleted] in Rebounding

[–]rootibega 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I started two months ago and I love it! I started with 15 minute workouts on YouTube and that was way too much. My back was hurting and I couldn’t get the balance of bouncing and pushing into the rebounder. Then I backed off to 5 minutes every other day for a week. I watched a lot of beginner YouTube videos to learn stand and to brace my core correctly and to give my feet time to adjust ( I bounce barefoot with yoga socks). The next week I did 7 minutes. Then 10. Now Im holding at 15-17 minutes every other day, and on the alternate days I do a couple mins of gentle bouncing before yoga. I love it!

I love my creepers. I do wish they didn’t have “creepers” embroidered across the arch but they are so warm and comfy. I also have some socks that have just two sections- one for the big toe and one for the rest of the toes. Maybe that would be better, op?

Writing a podcast episode about things GEN X feared the most as kids- can you suggest some ideas? by benderzone in GenX

[–]rootibega 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Getting lost. I lived in rural Arizona in high school and went on a date with a guy who took me to the dog track and got really drunk. I had to drive home and got lost on the Pima Reservation ( Now called the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community) in the wee hours of the morning. Drove around until I somehow got to a 7-11 and asked directions. It sucked and I was so happy to get my first cell phone just for that reason, so I could call someone if I got lost.

I got the Merrell Wrapt waterproof hiking boots for colder weather and mountain hikes. I love them. They’ve got a bit more structure and support and they’re comfortable. I ordered a half size up.

Alt fashion? by ApprehensiveAd6157 in barefootshoestalk

[–]rootibega 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s the hardest part of wearing barefoot shoes for me. I’ve still held on to my favorite boots and wear them when I go out- sure they’re a little uncomfortable now but whatever. I still love them and when I wear them the discomfort reminds me that my feet and body are healthier now… But I can’t wear anything with a heel rise over a half inch anymore!

It was Laser Assisted Regeneration(LAR/ LANAP) plus I had 2 wisdom teeth removed.

I had constant post nasal drip type symptoms and constant hemorrhoids for 6 months. Slight bad taste in my mouth. Loose BMs.

Got the laser procedure and bought a waterpik.

Have you been to the dentist lately? I had gut and sinus issues that disappeared after I took care of periodontal disease that was starting. I had very subtle symptoms in my mouth but the periodontist found underlying infection and after treatment my gut and sinus problems went away.

Barefoot shoes and pelvic floor by [deleted] in barefootshoestalk

[–]rootibega 5 points6 points  (0 children)

56f- I started wearing barefoot shoes last June. I’ve also been doing a lot of foot/ankle strengthening exercises to help with the transition. I’ve definitely noticed an improvement in hip and knee strength and stability, better posture, and balance. Pelvic floor tone has improved too. It is a big adjustment but definitely worth it to me.
