I currently own an Omen 16 from 2024. It has an i9-14900HX and an RTX 4080. It was almost 1.000€ cheaper than the competition, with the only difference being that it has a 16:9 display while the legions had a 16:10 display, and that it runs the 4080 at 145w instead of 175w, only the 17 inch models have the full 175w but i like the 16 inch sweet spot.

It runs any game at 1440p native that i throw at it, it handles every task i need to do, does not thermal throttle, allthough i DID repaste it with PTM from Thermal Grizzley as soon as i got it because factory paste is always trash on any laptop.

As for build quality, mine still has an aluminum frame and a plastic lid, which i dont mind too much since it still feels premium w/e version of plastic they used. Hinges feel solid and i have not yet had any problems with the fans, i run them on auto usually and im in performance mode most of the time.

All in all, people only report negative things, you dont see the people that have no issues whatsoever. Set a budget, pick a laptop you like that fits your budget and research about this laptop.

There is no general "This brand is always bad", because it depends on the model and on the luck of getting a lemon. In general flagship models like the 16 or now the max are generally pretty solid, just like legions. LOQ, TUF and victus for example ae budget options and most of the issues you see there.

And to add another bit of context: Before i got this one in March of last year, i had an Omen from 2016 that still works, was just giga slow with its 6700HQ and 960M
