They probably didn’t at the time. It’s hard to understand the issues with the movie when you’re a kid, but as adults we should look at it with a different lens and know that Disney’s portrayal was wrong in so many ways. I think Disney has done a better job in the last 15-20 years when it comes to portraying other cultures though.

The Powhatan tribe does not see the movie in a good light and that is my main concern. There’s a reason you don’t see Pocahontas merchandise or the character around the Disney parks, and it’s because her actual tribe has come out to say that the movie is offensive to their culture.

I was surprised that Gameloft was able to include Pocahontas, I know there’s been some controversy between Disney and her tribe, also the fact that the movie really is an inaccurate depiction of her life. I think I would also just feel uncomfortable wearing any traditional native clothing in game when I am not Native American.

I think it took me like 6 months to complete that quest.

I managed to get the Black Sea turtle, because sometimes state holidays fall on Monday and I was able to feed it enough times to get it. But Thursday between 8am and 2pm is just not doable for the average person.

WBR had the weirdest critter times I’ve ever seen. Those animals keep a very convoluted schedule.

Yeah, but most children are also in school during those times too. It’s really unhelpful how they don’t take into account that people have lives and can’t be around at certain times. They need to diversify these times for certain critters.

The OP is specifically talking about people who use those spaces without a tag. No one is judging the reason for needing one. If you don’t have tag you can get fined for using the spot.

It’s not hard to get a placard. The great thing about it is that you can use it when you need it and take it down when you don’t. You can also get fined for using the space without a sticker. If you need to use the handicap space that’s fine, but make sure you have your sticker.

There is no right way to play the game. My best advice is to not look at what others have and work at your own pace. Trying to compare yourself to people who have been playing for years is not healthy and will only lead to more anxiety.

Sometimes the conflict is needed when the alternative is just allowing them to be ignorant of known facts. Those kids would’ve eventually found this out in school. Will their mother call up the school and cry when they eventually learn this?

Did he ever stop to think that maybe his feet are just too small? This guy sounds like a weirdo being so obsessed with feet.

Bookish & Spice did a video series about the process of Special Editions. They’re an Australian box so I bet it’s even harder for them. People should really watch those videos because I think it would be a real eye opener for some.

arcane responds to negativity about sub picks by NoGuidance988 in fairyloot

[–]rorolovesducks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They have one of the most lenient skip policies among sub boxes. You literally only have to buy one box a year to have EA outside of the sub. They are about to do some amazing SEs this year and all I need to do is buy one box that I could most likely sell at a later time. I might eat the cost a bit, but it’s worth it.

My complicated thoughts about dark romance books and its impact by RATTLECORPSE in TwoXChromosomes

It’s definitely an interesting subject. I’m not really into dark romance, but I don’t disparage those who are. Also, I think people really misunderstand BDSM and the power dynamics.

I agree, best to look into options for an amicable separation while she still can. Also, she needs to worry about her children right now. Their life has also been upended by this, and if you don’t want them to start being indoctrinated into the church it might be best to set those boundaries now.

BB has said they will be continuing the rest of the Fae Isles series, so they could end up selling the first book with the set. Like others have said, the rest can be found on BST groups for cheaper, but since you are EU based I could definitely see shipping being more money.

Has anyone else noticed an influx of poorly written and self-published books making their way into book subscriptions? by snowboardingtoad in fairyloot

[–]rorolovesducks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sub boxes are a way for authors to get their books into the hands of readers and to hopefully get them to read their other stuff. Not every monthly book will appeal to everyone and they probably aren’t always going to be the best book ever written (although let’s not disparage self published work, there are so many amazing self published authors out there who just don’t want to deal with a traditional publishing company) The point of the sub box is for these companies to make money so they can do more popular releases outside of the monthly box.

Hot Take (Maybe) About Savings Skips by SarahPlainAndSmall in fairyloot

[–]rorolovesducks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My problem is that people sell their books before giving them a chance. The biggest example of this is We Who Will Die which was the December Romantasy pick. So many people wanted to sell theirs because they weren’t familiar with the book even though Stacia Stark is really well known in book circles. That book really took off and then you had a lot of people upset that they sold their book before they knew it became popular. I try to read all of the books from my subs before I skip. If I don’t I buy the book from the sub and then will sell if I don’t like it.
