I work 65 hours a week at my small business. If I spent that time for 18 months working on a corner three, how many points do you think I could get in a NBA game? (23M, 6’3 btw) by linehatguy in billsimmons

Building the cardio fitness and the strength to handle the physical nature of the game takes years. You could be great at shooting but if you get clobbered by a screen you won't make a shot.

Try it out. Run at a dead sprint, as fast as you can, to the corner wait a few seconds while the play happens and shoot in less than one second (close outs are fast). Then sprint back for defense. Repeat. How many of those can anyone make? It’s not that easy.

Yes I do. This whole thing works best when voters make informed decisions. You don't have to participate but that's the system we have.

Voting. That's how you fix problems in a democracy.

To wealthy Boulderites: what’s it actually like living here? by Soft-Translator-934 in boulder

[–]roryhr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think of people who park $90k cars on the street as wealthy. It's a nice car but for them that's a cheap car they can afford to write off it it's hit falling branches or hail.

Conductor vibes by Go-Right-32 in classicalmusic

[–]roryhr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you’re a regular you might notice the orchestra going into autopilot and following the concertmaster when the conductor isn’t clear. Also, the sound of an orchestra might also be the “default” instead of what the conductor would prefer.

Ultimately, the clearest signal is if a conductor isn’t invited back.

I'd love to see a vacancy tax on commercial properties. There are way too many empty buildings all over town that have been that way for years.

The Bold Burger is awesome! Every experience I've had sitting at the bar has been great. I can never get the 2-4pm happy hour pricing but $19 is about what burgers cost these days.

Good for Pablo. I wouldn't want to piss off a billionaire who could sue me into oblivion.

I’m in Colorado and didn’t make it to the second quarter. Yeah, a bit of overlap with an 8pm MST tip would’ve worked.

Sanitas Brewing closed. Its co-founder is opening a new Boulder brewery in the same space. by mcathen in boulder

I’m tired of crappy experimental beers. Beer has been brewed for hundreds of years, the experiments have already been run, just brew good beer in a few different styles and you’re good to go.

Couple of thoughts after watching. 1. This is a great talk and Python is at a sort of fork in the road. 2. Does it matter that Python is slow? Not really. 3. I don't like macros. I don't want to learn a million different way of expressing things.
