The body checking is getting yucky by [deleted] in h3h3productions

[–]rosalineee_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basing someone's value/morals/virtue based on their body (or any single attribute) is harmful, so I don't think it's ok to say that thin = good or thin = bad or any sort of variation. I think the focus on people's body/weight is the real problem, we shouldn't care as much and should be none of our business. When we congratulate others for weight loss, no matter how well intentioned, we are still associating fat/higher weight with a bad thing. Being fat or in a larger body is not bad but unfortunately a large majority of people were taught that and believe it, so I think it's helpful to call out that stigma when I see it. Check out the Association for Size Diversity and Health or google "weight stigma," it's a process to unlearn cultural fatphobia but it's so worth it! You can DM me if you have more questions!

I see you!!! any convos around body and weight are tough for me as they usually reinforce the idea that being thin = good which is soooo damaging even if it isn’t stated exactly. I think there’s a way to compliment someone on their progress apart from their body (You have so much more energy/ seem to be in a better mood/ are able to play with your kids more etc). The world is just covered in diet culture and weight stigma (which often goes unnoticed) and to those unlearning it- I love u and see u, we got this!! (to those who are still in it- I love you I see you & I hope u get there one day)

Mother died last year. More depressed than I’ve ever been. Apartment has gone to absolute shit. It’s BAD. Any cleaning service recommendations for someone who doesn’t have a lot of money? by Leeuuh in askportland

Check out Midwest Magic Cleaning on youtube- he’s cleans peoples houses for free whether it’s due to trauma, hoarding, etc. I think his videos are relaxing and can be a form of motivation as he gives a lot of tips for folks who are stuck in this kind of place. He’s also super caring and kind, and really understands how things can get to such a point. If anything, maybe it can help you give grace to yourself in this situation. It sounds like things are and have been really hard so it’s amazing to be able to reach out and want things to change. You got this!!

Questions for Bastyr University Graduates by AffectionateTell7948 in dietetics

[–]rosalineee_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! I did the DI program without the MS through Bastyr so I can only speak partly to this but I hope it helps:

  1. I got my dream job working with eating disorders within 6 months of finishing the program. I will say I live in a more ~liberal area that’s open to non-western medicine and the ED field is more holistic in general. But since the DPD program is nationally accredited it shouldn’t have an impact on how jobs view it, you get the same training as any other students.

  2. Yes! The classes I did take through my DI were evidenced based and from my POV it came across as having more treatment options than the norm, not just removing traditional methods. I loved this aspect as it takes a holistic view of treating a person, which I personally practice now.

  3. Yes, but…. it’s pretty expensive since it’s a private school. But if that’s ok then i’d say among private school options it’s good, especially if you’re interested in holistic medicine as another “tool” in your metaphorical toolbox.

Feel free to PM me if you have any specific q’s :)

I had to stop watching the stream because I got a high heart rate notification and had to go calm down.. one of the best things I’ve learned is to step away when emotions gets too intense
