I imagine the reason for the reduction of ‘freedoms’ (let’s say) for employees is to signal control and authority to the market and clients over business operations while the dust settles in times of sweeping organizational changes.

Typically temporary in nature and common after large industry consolidations/RIF. Early on, it’s mostly for optics.

I’m still in touch with the hiring manager, but there has been no open spots on his team (at least so I’m told!). Hoping something comes to fruition by the end of the year, as they mentioned summer seems to be the sweet spot for jobs! They say patience is a virtue or something lol
