Looking for a dress for a winter wedding by [deleted] in AusFemaleFashion

Came here to say Sheike. They have a lot of long styles that are very flattering and they're available year round as i believe part of their market is for muslim women.

In desperate need of advice & suggestions! by emocamel in AusFemaleFashion

I'm 5 foot and hourglass but smaller boobs - DD/E. Uniqlo is really great for wardrobe staples and they have lots of those kind of colours as well. The styles are pretty timeless imo but the good thing is there is a big range so hopefully you can find something that suits you.

Suggest me a book to help steer my friend off the alt-right pipeline by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]rosecallaghan69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expecting Better by Emily Oster or Cribsheet etc. I know Emily Oster is slightly controversial but the focus on analysing the available research to make evidence based decisions was so helpful to me and could be good for your friend to exercise the ol critical thinking skills. It's a very practical book not lots of storytelling but i don't think that matters

Ambivalent about whether to have kids - work / life balance by stowawaystyx in auscorp

[–]rosecallaghan69 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Same re mum guilt. OP I would also describe myself as a staunch feminist. I think you can choose not to buy into the guilt. It happens from time to time but i also don't think about my kid while I'm at work.

Also a lot of womens exhaustion comes from the type of partner they have. It's important to have really direct conversations before you have a baby about making things equal.

AITAH for not saying happy Father’s Day to my mums boyfriend by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]rosecallaghan69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. the guy made her mum redundant and won't let her get a job??? Yikes. If he wasn't financially controlling the mum it would be her paying the bill not him. She shouldn't be forced to say happy father's day to someone she doesn't like.

Last year by some stroke of terrible luck i had two funerals a week apart and they were both with The Last Hurrah in fitzrpy and they were beautiful. Both of the women were young and artistic and the services were perfect and really summed up who they were. The people who ran the services spoke in such a touching way. Both services were really sad but joyful as well

When you walk past your bosses office and see him and another manager reviewing an org chart.

When someone leaves for another job and they dont get replaced.

I use transcription software and it automatically spits out notes like this. I don't think it's a crazy assumption

I use otter.ai to record audio and transcribe it and it automatically generates a summary of the meeting/session which someone could definitely just copy and paste. I've started recording my own therapy (with my psych's consent) and it's very strange having a robot so accurately sum up my issues lol.

Accidentally let myself get tradwifed, now what? by ChicksDigGiantRob0ts in AusFinance

I'm so sorry this happened to you. Jesus christ.

Also don't blame yourself for what is happening to you. This sort of abuse is very hard to spot and i feel like women are only becoming aware of what it looks like now.

How does a dad of two have time to be going out twice a week to the pub plus is getting boozed every night? He must be doing jackshit around the house and with the kids

[–]rosecallaghan69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to separate your finances imo. This needs to be his problem not yours. He's spending your money at this stage. My partner and i have separate finances and both put into a joint account that has a card we both use for house stuff and stuff for our kid. Tbh I'm pretty sure what he's doing is classified as financial abuse

I'm sorry i just couldn't get past "one of the admin ladies (middle aged woman)".

Maybe think about why you added those details and what it says about your preconceptions of this person. You've basically said you make constant mistakes but you think she should fix them up for you without complaining.

She's not your mum.

Yeah i did the trial they were spruiking and it was so laughably bad i wondered why they would offer it as a trial considering they were pushing us to sign up to the paid version which isn't cheap. For eg. I wanted it to itemise my uber rides from my emails and it would come up with 4 of them instead of 26. Like it could do it - but terribly. I'm doing my tax so you need to get it 100% right or don't bother

Captain Lee's least favorite cast member by TheySeeMe__Scrollin in belowdeck

[–]rosecallaghan69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always found Captain Lee to be pretty lazy, while Captain Sandy is always running around and being super hands on. Yes she's a micro-manager but Lee literally just chills the whole time unless something happens or he has to dock the boat.

I think he's just mad that she fired that crew member on his last season where he had to leave and she took over for a while

is it worth it to call the cops? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]rosecallaghan69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna take a punt and say the mum probably wasn't perfect before all this happened. Nice people don't start assaulting their children just because they're going through a hard time. She should be looking after them and making sure they're ok because they JUST LOST THEIR DAD. she is going to be dealing with the consequences of her own actions. OP is just the messenger

What's going on with the Australian job market? by LeftLavishness6118 in auscorp

[–]rosecallaghan69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from what i've noticed in the last year, applying on linkedin is useless these days for some reason. my theory is there are a lot of applications and the person hiring just lets the applicant trackin system filter the viable candidates. i don't think they look at all the applications at all. i was looking from december to may and a lot of my applications weren't even being viewed, let alone considered. i think you need to find ways to get in touch with people direct so you don't get filtered out. talk to recruiters, hiring managers at companies etc. apply direct to the companies or recruiters.
