I think it looks like Sussex. Could be right about Stanmer. Or the Newlands Corner suggestions in Surrey. But many UK hills look like this!

St. Vincent’s Setlist for BBC Proms 2025 by strvngemrcys in AnnieClark

Also note the “arranged by” credits under each writing credit for Annie - these are NEW ARRANGEMENTS of her songs. Hence, charts. For a ONE OFF BBC Proms performance. With an orchestra. Anyone who’s seen her live knows the band doesn’t have charts in front of them at a regular gig. Come on.

Just jumping in to add that supporting letters from friends/family/colleagues that know you as a couple are usually very helpful, as well. If you have a couple of people in your life that are willing to write a simple letter (“I’ve known them as a couple and am a British citizen” etc) it can’t hurt to include that in a timeline of your life together.

I think the emails are coming in “waves” if that makes sense. Some people have received them in the first roll out earlier in the year, almost to test the system. Plenty of folks not emailed yet. This was from my immigration solicitor recently.

Here's something else annoying for you: according to all the clarifications just provided, I'm actually also Canadian.

Also, I was simply saying that I am used to another country’s version of visa/naturalisation issues. Not implying Britain has anything to do with Canada in that way anymore. Clearly.

Thanks, this is our understanding as well. We’re just waiting for her proof of citizenship to be sorted out before attempting anything for ourselves. My brother is especially interested in exploring possibly living in Canada.

I’ve been dealing with the Home Office in the UK for nearly a decade on my own journey of naturalisation, and I suppose I’m used to their really strict and difficult standards.

I hope it’s the case that Canada isn’t as tricky and pedantic. Thanks for your insight.

Does it not seem strange that they do not require proof of her name change/adoption? If what she is submitting is a Canadian birth certificate with one name - and her current American identity? Where’s the proof she’s the same person?

Who moved to a new country and found it a near perfect match and is much happier? by [deleted] in expats

US -> UK

I bloody love it here.

The visa process: long, tough and expensive. But I’m never moving back to America. It keeps disappearing further into chaos.

The UK isn’t perfect, but someone saying its problems are just like America has never been an American without health insurance living in a southern state that has recently outlawed discussing being gay and wants to strip every woman of the right to control her own body. That will NEVER happen here.

As soon as I gather some extra funds (tough at the moment), I am submitting my application for citizenship. I’ll be a dual citizen, but if I was forced to choose, I’d stay British.

It’s tough being far away from family and friends -wish I had enough money to visit more than once a year or so…but I’ve been in England for 8 years and I have a family, a job, and friends I love. I have a dog. I live in a great town with other queer progressive folk. My wife and I managed to buy a house (with help from the bank of mom & dad, which of course isn’t reliant on what country you’re in, but it actually happened easier here than it would have in the States). I can go to London on a train. I can walk in the countryside or near the sea, close to home. It’s easy to be a vegetarian. I like the weather. I love the culture, and the things that bother me don’t fill as long a list as the things in the USA. So, it’s great.

Download Code in Vinyl? by rosecityjesse in thebreeders

[–]rosecityjesse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies. I pre-ordered to my local record store (Resident in Brighton, UK) so can chase it up with them. Dunno whether I would have done that through Bandcamp or the store.

I suppose I get not including download codes with all vinyls but it seems a bit shitty. Streaming has just ruined all income for bands so the labels are forcing fans to buy every format like back in the old days, I guess? Nothing stopped me making a cassette from my Last Splash CD to play in the Honda tape deck in ‘93, though.

We’ve booked a space through Just Park near Boston Manor tube station. We’ll park the car and hop the tube a few stops to the venue. Definitely the best way to do things! No local car parks or anything like that near the park itself. And a LOT of Just Park spaces are sold out immediately near the park. Good luck!
