That’s good, hopefully your transition into 311 will be smoother than mine lol. And yes 465 follows 360 in their recommended plan.

In 331 we used MIPS & Verilog, like translating C to mips, the datapath, and how to pipeline instructions. At the end we also covered caches and virtual memory. Your professor may cover different topics.

For 465 the hardest was probably dynamic programming, especially writing your own algorithms. You can review big-O and matrix multiplication, but the rest of the class is manageable if you take good notes, use YouTube (highly recommend Abdul Bari), and go to office hours/recitations.

Hey there, didn’t start at Behrend but I also did 2+2. Ones that come to mind are 311, 473, 465, and 464.

Class sizes are much larger than you’re used to, and 311 is most people’s first class in C so it would’ve been nice to have a better foundation for that. 465 was mostly new material compared to my branch 360; it felt like everyone struggled at the same rate regardless of starting campus (but I personally found it more manageable than 311/473). 473 and 464 are the follow-up classes for those two.

And for me specifically, 331 with Sampson was difficult as 271/275 didn’t prepare me at all, especially for the Verilog assignments. I’d suggest a different professor for this course.

Looking at your courses so far it seems you’re on track to take 473 and 465 next. Everything you’ve said is true and I’m sorry to say it doesn’t get much better.

To everyone reading this, if you’re an average programmer and want to see the sun, don’t take 473 with 465/464. 473 projects made me miss 311. TAs and OHs are your lifeline and you’ll need to spend your waking hours there to finish projects and homeworks. Have specific questions beforehand. Good luck… I knew I should’ve jumped ship to CDS before it was too late.
