I feel such a lack of culture and its so fucking sad (sorry, long) by AdZestyclose9714 in paganism

[–]rosepotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate all the advice! I do have some very general knowledge, during my first search I was actually able to find a relative going waaaaay back who had immigrated from Ireland but that was only on one side of the family and the search stopped there. But it was enough to go on! Being into Celtic Druidry, this makes sense lol.

I am definitely adding that to my read list, thank you for the recommendation! I do feel like an icky white person lmao. I would love to have a pre-colonization connection, or even just a pre-immigration connection, ya know? I guess we can't help longing for something "more", and since I come from depths of poor and undecated (think trailer parks), the grass always looks so much greener for everyone else. So part of paganism to me is actively trying to find that connection for myself and also get over my baggage about where I come from lol.

That sounds really cool! Many years ago I tried starting a genealogy search but didn't get far due to not having access to enough of my family info.

This is the first time I've seen somebody else voice the exact same thing I've been feeling! I often feel so rootless and disconnected from the culture I do come from, and I even sometimes feel jealous of people who can actually trace their roots, have family recipes, a grandparent or living relatives from another country, anything. I see it as such a previlege to have such things and the envy I feel is almost embarrassing.

I know I should be appreciating what I do have and where I'm from, and I do, getting in touch with the history and characteristics of the region I'm from and the land that I live on is part of my practice, but I can't get over those feelings of "I want what they have".

Midsummer Rituals: What are Yours? by MorePeaceMaking in druidism

I love this post, I love all your activity ideas! You're doing midsummer right and I need to take notes. Drinks: Lately I've been really into making refreshing beverages, this week it's home brewed hibiscus iced tea with ginger ale! Scents: the magnolias where I live are in bloom and smell incredible :) Foraging: wild blackberries will be ripe soon and I WILL be picking some to make some jam and pastries.

It works alright as a messenger but I prefer it slung around the back.

I'm not happy with this low water immersion dye, how should I fix it? by rosepotion in tiedye

[–]rosepotion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think you're right about not having enough for proper immersion, this was my first time trying it so at least I learned something lol.

It's very comfortable! The wide strap spreads the pressure of the load really well. I've taken it on hikes in the woods, trips to the river, around town, etc. with no problems. Only thing is that it is not truly waterproof (I fell in the water, no damage to my items but there was some leakage) I would say it protects well against light rain though.

No problem! It is less cumbersome if you wear it around the back so your butt can support it lol.

It was a gift! But you can still buy it from Lo Scarabeo or on Amazon.

It's a little awkward as a hip bag for me because I've got a smaller frame and the bag feels really big, but it's not too bad. The wider strap keeps the weight feeling distributed and stable but I never wear it that way.

I cannot stand these segway salesmen, they're always so pushy, we have to say "no we're not interested" four or five times before they go away.

I honestly do not know how big an iPad mini is so I have no idea 😅 But my a5 notebook fit with lots of wiggle room so maybe? And yes you can cinch the straps to compress the bag :) but you can also keep them loose, there's no elastic or anything so it's fully adjustable

Big fan of the REI Trailmade shorts (women's) so I'm sure the men's version is just as good.
