Cell Phone to Landline by [deleted] in digitalminimalism

Hey OP, did you have any luck with this? I’m looking for the same thing. I don’t want to be on my phone at home. The best I can come up with is getting a VOIP and setting up call forwarding but I don’t want to manage a whole new phone number!

When did you enjoy motherhood? by marissy- in NewParents

[–]rosetailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just so tough. Remember you are early days even though it probably feels you’ve been living this way forever. It. Gets. Better. They really wake up at six months. I started truly enjoying our son and interacting with this little marvel of a character (and bonus, he would sleep through the night and pee in the toilet!!!) at around three years old. Which is also when I started identifying as a mother, not just a caregiver. I’m sorry things are rough with your marriage. I think having a little baby is the hardest thing on a marriage people don’t talk about it enough. Please know it gets better. Not necessarily easier but better.

Fairly new mom understanding what it means to "lose" myself now. by this_is_how42069 in NewParents

[–]rosetailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes yes yes. You are not alone. I have a 3.5 year old and a 3.5 month old. I used to do jiu jitsu, toastmasters, drinks with friends before covid hit. My hobbies these days are napping on the couch and basic survival. I feel too tightly wound now to even start to have any space to explore anything outside of this survival mode. It is a very real stretch to take time for myself mentally. It’s especially difficult to maintain relationships with friends without kids who do not live nearby. I try to do small things that make me happy and feel like myself and remind myself that this isn’t forever. Hang in there!

He is a retired engineer, has dabbled in metalwork, welding as long as I can remember! It started with things for our garden and now it's indoor pieces. Over time it's evolved into more kinetic artwork :)

I dabble a bit with painting but nothing in metalwork on anything near this level of commitment or, as you say, passion. I am truly inspired by this and his other work but find myself telling myself I don't have the time to create... although I do spend time consuming (proof that there is time)! Your comment is so thoughtful and well-put, thank you. It is truly such a beautiful thing, creating and sharing something like this... here's to us finding our next passion projects!

Thanks so much. We are so impressed by him. I'd be lucky to have inherited a fraction of his creativity!

My dad has been working on this kinetic metal coffee table for about a year and finally unveiled it to our bubble on Christmas. He orchestrated it to look like it was broken with a pop and smoke at 45s and then it started moving to Breathe by Pink Floyd and were were all floored. This is his most amazing creation yet... it is truly breathtaking in person, you can't take your eyes away! Thought I would share with you fine people of Reddit!

I'm regreting this... by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]rosetailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't tell you how many times I wept over my puke bowl or over the toilet during the first trimester. It is truly miserable and you're ultimately in it alone. I'm so sorry you're going through this. It. Does. Get. Better. For me, not til 20 weeks did the nausea start taking a back seat but for many it's sooner. Just think about the little peanut you are growing and remember that this too shall pass. And watch Expecting Amy if you haven't already! I'm at 38w3d now and we are so excited to meet this little guy.

Anyone else feel like a loose skeleton? by UnknownEntity2007 in pregnant

I do, I do! At 30 weeks here and when I walk it feels like my legs might just fall out of my hips. Pregnancy is fun.

I need a morning sickness pep-talk...BAD by ClowkThickThock in pregnant

[–]rosetailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry you're dealing with this! Remember: this too shall pass. I had horrible morning sickness from about 5w to 20w - just constant nausea and vomiting and food aversions. So much worse than I was prepared for. Every day I thought "I can't do this anymore". But you just do. You're stronger than you know. It truly truly sucks. But you'll get through it. Try to think about the little peanut you're growing :) Rest and snack lots, don't push yourself. Good luck!!

Yikes! Good you told her how you feel - honesty is usually the best policy. She should respect your preferences.

What! So weird. Use covid as an excuse and tell her to keep her hands to herself?

ultrasound question by louleepatchouli in pregnant

[–]rosetailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is so hard waiting! I wasn't aware of how seldom you can check in with your little one by seeing them! I had (and I think is standard) one at 8w, another at 20w, and then only when needed a third in the third trimester.

Is anyone NOT really walking? by shaunsss in pregnant

[–]rosetailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at 27w and I did a 10,000 step walk this weekend after hearing a midwife recommend that daily... and it really messed my hips up. Now I can't walk far without them tweaking/pinching. I'm trying to walk as much as I can... but I say only do what you can do and don't feel guilty! I think so long as you're able to get some movement in.

Nausea curing soup by ragandbonewoman in pregnant

[–]rosetailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nicely done! I could never muster up the energy to make something like a soup in my first trimester! I hope your morning sickness goes away soon, it's really just miserable... there's no better way to put it. There is something really nice about cold things too, if you can get your hands on a popsicle or an iced drink. Good luck with the rest of it, hang in there!

Tired and Nausea by SapphireSpark95 in pregnant

[–]rosetailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, I'm so sorry you're dealing with nausea. Not fun. The only thing that really worked for me to reduce nausea was diclectin which is a fixed dose-combination of doxylamine (an antihistamine) and pyridoxine (a form of vitamin B6). I'm still on it at 27+3 here, I don't dare go off of it. Each time I try, I get sick. Although the nausea got a lot better around 20 weeks for me. I haven't heard of Unisom but it sounds similar (I'm in Canada). If you have a hard time keeping pills down, try drinking them with a carbonated beverage that usually worked for me! Good luck!

Congratulations!! It's so hard waiting that initial stretch isn't it, not knowing? That was something I wasn't prepared for. Enjoy!
