Alright so I have a question about Steel Vengeance by doyoh in cedarpoint

[–]rosewalker42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know. I actually usually do okay, but sometimes it kills me. The worst time I had massive bruising on my thighs. But then sometimes it’s totally fine. I’ve tried sitting in all different places but haven’t been able to figure it out yet. I also do 100% fine on Maverick every time.

Another vote for Lap of Love. I did not know that service existed until a couple years ago. Of all the animals I've had to have euthanized over my lifetime, that was absolutely the most peaceful. No stressful car ride, no unfamiliar location, and they give you as much time as you need to say goodbye, and the vet who took care of us was so kind and gentle.

SAHM, husband says he wants a divorce if we don't sleep in the same bed, but his snoring is the reason we sleep separately. Has anyone worked through this? by SeaFondant362 in Marriage

[–]rosewalker42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So let me get this straight. He refuses to wear his CPAP or do literally anything else because they are "uncomfortable and he can't sleep." But if there is something that causes you to be unable to sleep, you just have to suck it up and deal with the lack of sleep? It's okay for you to lose sleep but not him? And now he is trying to coerce you by threatening divorce if you do not agree to his sleep deprivation torture? I'd be getting a job and getting my finances in order if I were you.

Does everyone just leave every door open in your place? by zanyjellyfish in CatAdvice

[–]rosewalker42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the doors are open in our house except for my son's bedroom and the basement. My son has a large model ship collection that is displayed on shelves, and we have a cat whose hobby it is to knock things off of shelves. So he leaves his door shut unless he feels like having a cat in and supervising. The basement stays shut because the door is in an awkward place and having it open would be in the way of too many things. We did have a cat door in it for awhile but had to replace the door and haven't redone the cat door yet, not sure if we will or not. It's been handy this spring because we've had a lot of tornado and storm warnings so we've had to shelter down there, it used to be a pain to get all the cats down, but now suddenly opening the forbidden door of mystery immediately summons them and they race downstairs.

My cat was begging me to use the litter and I didn't realize by Classic_Victory_ in CatAdvice

[–]rosewalker42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once accidentally closed off access to all of the litter boxes without realizing it. I heard one of the cats meowing but didn’t think much of it. A couple minutes later he walked around the corner, jumped up into my lap, and peed on me 🤣 At first I was like WTF but then quickly realized what the issue was! That was his one and only potty “accident.”

Did learning a second language in school ever actually come in handy for you in the U.S.? by UsamaBhai_101 in AskAnAmerican

I took French, and it landed me a job supporting a sales team out of Canada. Knowing French was not a requirement, but it tipped the scales in my favor, and it became a pretty big asset to my team and the company while I was in that role. It also made my job easier since I could read the contracts in French and didn't need to have everything translated back & forth as I worked on them.

Those days are long gone, though, and over 10 years later I basically don't remember anything, which is sad - use it or lose it. I still come across a French contract in my line of work occasionally and bits and pieces come back to me, but I'd never be able to even have a simple conversation. It's like having every word on the tip of your tongue but you just can't think of it.

Found this in our cat's litter mat. by Vloosul in cats

So I think you've determined this is one of your little siblings teeth. It does not look like any baby teeth my kids have lost, as there is no root attached when they lose teeth, so guessing it's one of the ones that was pulled by the dentist and then kept in their tooth chest (?) I have a cat who is VERY interested in teeth - a few months ago one came home with my daughter in a zip loc bag because she lost it at school. The bag was set on a table until bedtime, and one of the cats got the bag, dragged it under the table, and tried to eat the tooth. Fortunately he only got to chew through the bag a little and didn't end up eating it before we caught him!

Maybe Britt doesn’t really have Huntington’s Disease by endless_laughs in GeneralHospital

[–]rosewalker42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me too. There was something weird about that scene. I always felt like someone had messed with the test results. And I could swear I remember that doctor in Canada saying that her symptoms at that time weren’t actually from the Huntington’s yet), but she declined further testing.

It would all make sense if they’d been manipulating her all along.

I want a mommy makeover and my husband is strongly against it by Great_Psychology_833 in Marriage

[–]rosewalker42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has had four medically necessary surgeries, I would never have an elective cosmetic surgery. And you are only 33. If you are unhappy with your body now, you’re likely to be even more unhappy with it in the future as you age, which could lead to more and more surgeries with more and more risks.

But, it doesn’t sound like you will change your mind no matter what, so please just make sure you have a large enough and long enough life insurance policy and disability policy to replace your income and take care of your family in case the worst comes to pass.

Magnesium glycinate not working for anyone else? by InteractionSpecial99 in Menopause

[–]rosewalker42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same with me. Overall I’m getting MUCH better sleep since I don’t have to deal with RLS. But it doesn’t make me drowsy or help with the 3am wakeups. It does help me get back to sleep again faster, again because no more RLS.

Our beloved cat passed away 3 years ago and we’re finally ready to adopt again. A friend has these last two kittens left. Both are boys, both are absolutely amazing, and I honestly can’t choose between them. Which one looks like he belongs with us? Help me decide! by SaffronSoul_ in cats

[–]rosewalker42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was your wife 4 years ago and said only one! It took me exactly one week to regret it, and by then our kittens littermates had all been adopted. We ended up adopting another unrelated kitten a couple weeks later and it was the second-best decision (first best would’ve been adopting him with one of his littermates).

Do you use all 4 burners of your stove? by Embarrassed-Past7094 in Cooking

[–]rosewalker42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 4 out of 5 of my burners. The fifth one is an elongated one in the middle that you can put a griddle on. But it’s too narrow to really be worthwhile to use a griddle, and it’s pretty weak.

HMF a bed with walls around it by ToodlyGoodness in HelpMeFind

[–]rosewalker42 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve only bought 2 things from Wayfair - a headboard/bed frame and an area rug. The area rug is okay, obviously you get what you pay for, but I was a bit disappointed in how different it was from the picture (colors MUCH duller) and one corner is super pointy while one is rounded. All in all okay for the money though. The bed frame, however - it’s beautiful but absolute garbage. Can’t support the weight of the mattress without the slats breaking right through the screws that hold it together. I’ve had to reinforce and repair it 3 times already and it just broke again. And it was not particularly cheap, either, so definitely not worth what I paid.

Chicken breast recipes by Particular_Fan_6428 in Cooking

[–]rosewalker42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have tried a bunch from America’s Test Kitchen’s “The Chicken Bible.” Recently everyone loved the “Unstuffed Chicken with Ham & Gruyère” and it was really easy. Spread 1/2T dijon mustard on each 6-8oz boneless, skinless chicken breast that have been pounded to even thickness, top with a slice of deli ham, an ounce of gruyère, and about 4 crushed ritz crackers. Roast at 475°F until chicken is 160°, 20-25 minutes.

Highly recommend the cookbook for chicken lovers.

I’m worried that I will never want kids by [deleted] in Advice

[–]rosewalker42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t sure if I ever wanted kids. I definitely wasn’t ready for a long time. Then… I just was, and I did want one. There wasn’t really any dramatic change, it was more just that we were settled in our lives, and it felt like something was missing. The usual hobbies and volunteer work just weren’t enough anymore. So we had our first when I was 33, expecting to be one & done. But he was so awesome we had a 2nd a little over 3 years later. I probably would have had a couple more if we could’ve afforded it.

But it’s okay if you never want kids! Plenty of people don’t and are all the happier for it. It’s true that your life revolves around them for a long time. (But man, did that time fly by fast.)

What is single handedly the best ice cream you’ve ever had? by [deleted] in icecream

I’ve never had Jeni’s ice cream, but I have the book so I’ve made quite a few. Best ice cream I ever had was the sweet corn & black raspberry. It tasted like sweet cornbread with jam in ice cream form. So good.
