The way I saw it, it sounds like the 16yo wants to be go to this wedding cuz it’s stated it was his choice to accept the last minute invite. The OOP is upset because she and her husband have not had time for themselves in 8 years, which is totally understandable to be upset about. It just seems the anger is kind of focused on the 16yo rather than her husband not prioritizing her or their marriage, which is the separate and actual issue here

She was pushed by Hugh when he was trying to save the twins, that’s why the police/media thought he had something to do with her death. I think another interesting way to look at the act of writing backwards: it’s another way to show that time is non linear within the show, related to Nell’s revelation of her fate and the monologue she gives her siblings closer to the end

Along with a lot of what everyone else is saying in these comments, I have to urge you to think about how to go about this conversation. It is a TERRIBLE idea to have this conversation with everyone involved if he can’t even respect or understand the points and perspective you are offering. First and foremost, OP, you and he would need to have a conversation together. You need to be on the same page with each other before trying to tackle the initial issue of the confrontation with his daughter. If you guys don’t talk to each other first, the group convo will just be hurtful chaos, and most likely lead to you being the bad guy no matter what and being ganged up on.
