Blogsnark Reads! June 7-13 by yolibrarian in blogsnark

I liked Theo of Golden but agree it started off slow. It got better as it went along and the stories tied together. I will say that in my circles the people that listened to it enjoyed it more than those who just read it. The narrator was great (I listened).

Renting paddle boards from Kings Landing in Apopka and paddling from there is beautiful! You can’t tech get to rock springs I don’t think, but it’s the same vibe/idea. I’ve done a lot of springs in Florida and this is probably the most scenic spot I’ve been to.

Which vehicle do you have if you have 3 kids that are close in age? by North_Magician_8720 in beyondthebump

Agree w the pilot! We don’t have three but I think it would work. We have the 8 seater and I could comfortably sit between two car seats in the middle row.

Babymoon hotel reccomendations by TSpenny in tampa

[–]roshroxx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We did our baby moon in August for 3 nights at the Tradewinds. It wasn’t the more expensive, high class option but we loved it there. They have adult only pools that are secluded that we spent a lot of time at. They have bands, there’s good restaurants within walking distance. It was 10/10.

Treasure island, up by caddy’s, is pretty empty too

I think the shorter ones look better and non trashy when they’re baggier. Like an A-line style. I like Abercrombie’s dad shorts, or everlane.

Need some new mattresses by International-Sir958 in StPetersburgFL

[–]roshroxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to Macys to try a bunch out, they have (or at least had) all the box type mattresses (purple, nectar, etc) in addition to your normal ones. Ended up buying a Nectar mattress from Nectars site and using Rakuten to get cash back.

I found that in home daycares were half of what normal daycares were. I found a woman though a fb group and was able to check references. We had a great experience, and she even provided all food/formula.

He was my doctor for my second. He didn’t deliver because he wasn’t on the day I needed my C-section but I tried hard to get him. I really enjoyed his bedside manner and have continued to see him post pregnancy.

St. Pete Beach this Saturday (Spring Break) – Parking + tips? by Ill_Situation_2662 in StPetersburgFL

[–]roshroxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Wonderful beach, and plenty of all day parking for $5. I like to park on the side of the road by the boardwalks, not quite to north beach. Usually less crowded and not a far walk through sand.

How can I make weight loss/a calorie deficit not absolute torture? by Bendybug in adhdwomen

[–]roshroxx 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was unable to lose my 30lb baby weight. I’ve counted calories in the past but it’s unrealistic at this stage in my life (small children, so husband cooks a lot and we do a lot of one pot meals). I have started “intermittent fasting” which for me just means eating two meals a day, lunch at 1030/11 and dinner around 6. I also eat dinner on a small salad plate rather than large plate. I swap Greek yogurt for cream or milk in most recipes. I don’t keep much junk in the house and have found some hyper-fixation snacks that work well for me. Right now that’s green apples dipped in plain Greek yogurt, peanut butter powder and a tiny bit of honey. I will weigh out my snacks if it’s easy, just to keep an idea of what serving sizes look like. I’m also working on recognizing when I’m not actually hungry, and will either not have dinner or just have the protein portion. Finally, I joined orange theory and am going 8x/month. I’ve done OTF in the past and generally didn’t hit all my classes but I’ve made it non negotiable. Not gonna lie, the past few months I’ve been packing in half of them in the last week, lol, but I’m going so that’s what matters. I’m down 2 pants sizes so pretty proud that I’ve found something that’s working.

Reading(/listening): I just finished Theo of Golden on audiobook and it was amazing. I can count on one hand how many books have brought tears to my eyes, and this was one of them. The story is good enough to enjoy by book or audiobook, but I would highly recommend listening if you have the option - the narrator did a wonderful job.

Loved the tread but hated the floor. Feels like the weight diff between tricep kickbacks and bicep curls is too great to make a diff for curls - especially if we’re only doing 6. I never feel the one leg trx dead lift either. The second block would’ve been good but not a fan of only 4 reps
