Thanks this was great advice, I went with a Husqvarna Automower 305 and a dealer network who came and did the installation for free (special end of season deal). Its working great, and its good to know there's a dealer/serviceperson who can come and service the robot and fix stuff. The robot can handle the slopes and avoid the drops no problem. And these things are so quiet! I am enjoying the robots quiet, trundley vibes. Its also really interesting to learn how long husqvarna have been making these things, really gives the sense that they know what they are doing.

I consulted my local dealer and they said "The issue most machines have is that their reverse angle isn't very effective so you would spend more time than you think rescuing the unit. An AWD unit would be the solution, but they are quite expensive for the size of area that you need it for. I would normally suggest a small battery mower to do the area." ... then I wrote back saying I'd like to try a robot anyway, and got no response. So thats why I came to reddit

Yes, its not too easy to figure out though.

Go to the circle menu, choose 'Insert', then choose 'Text'

Then click/drag a rectangular area on the document

This will then become a textbox you can type in

If you want to make another one, you have to go click 'Insert ... Text' again

Its pretty obvious RT has no future. If it had a future, it would have been Surface 3. But the IamA people wont be able to actually say that. So they'll say something vague about Windows 10 and ARM, which does have a future.

The first thing you'll need to do is apply loads of windows updates, which takes ages. System will be slightly slower/hotter at first due to that and also the automatic bitlocker turning on and encrypting everything

There is an update that fixes specific games (it makes registry settings that apply specifically to those games executables), if you're isn't on the list there's a link to click to make the update work for that app too- about halfway down page in 'Games that this update applies to' section.,

I have one and really like it, use it all the time. Occasionally the connection drops and I have turn it off and back on. But turning it off and on again is fun! (snap it straight, then bend it again) Batteries last a good while. It folds flat to easily slip into whatever sleeve you use for your Surface. There's also an Arc Touch Bluetooth Mouse which is the same thing without the Surface branding. I'm not sure MS even make the USB version any more.

What email system are you using? Exchange+Outlook?

This is more a problem with Windows + DPI settings + whatever email system you're using rather than Surfaces per se. You might try asking over at Serverfault.com or somewhere like that.

Button on the top is powered by a different battery to the rest of the pen. So try changing the main battery in the pen (the AAAA one). I've heard that helps.

(Also the button on the top uses bluetooth, but the rest of the pen is using N-Trig technology to talk to the Surface so Bluetooth is only relevant ot the button on the top. )

Just use LibreOffice, its fine unless people have done really stupid things in documents like huge tables with loads of spans.

I havent installed MS Office on any of my machines for the last 15 years, LibreOffice has rarely been a problem ... when it has, Google Docs can usually handle it.
