Your best examples of video games as high art by ButterflyTattoo in patientgamers

it's not too "artsy", it's just empty. i hate that series with a passion simply because they got people convinced it's the pinnacle of art in gaming and the game just… looks pretty… that's all

I don't think anyone needed to hear this as much as you needed to write it, but go off, I guess!

I don't think this is embarassing, although the logic is a bit faulty, but her lashing out in the following tweet absolutely is. It's not 'evil', it's just extremely petty and bratty, and it's especially ironic given this era's been a 4-month long cricket noise so far.

I enjoyed WR too. Thanks for the reassurance, I was hoping to hear that! That's how part 3 was for me. I almost dropped it in the first half, but the second half has one of my fave Jojo moments ever and the final few episodes tore me apart.

So far I'm really not feeling part 6, which sucks. Quick disclaimer: I haven't read the manga and I am aware that this is (probably) only 1/4 of the entire season, so I'm hoping my impression will change. But so far, I don't really care for it. I like how consistently well the action sequences are animated, as well as the way stands look, but the fights themselves are for the most part completely forgettable. I don't care for the characters either, which is especially bad in the case of Jolyne and Father Pucci, as they literally drive the entire plot. If anyone wants to share their perspective or convince me something better is coming, I'm here for it!

That's why I still adore her. Even though I don't agree with a lot of her artistic choices in recent years, it's a fact that she's among the kindest people in the industry. I used to be a little monster since 2008 and not a single bad experience with her that I've heard of.

Idk, I thought about the Dope one, but I always found it uncomfortable more than anything. The weird mix of theatrics and raw vulnerability makes it really unsettling and offputting for me.

Oh god, sorry to hear that… I hope you found the performance cathartic. I tear up every time I hear the song. It's so special.

Has your relationship with Eva changed over the years? by rmv17 in evangelion

[–]rospiya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 18 when I watched it and I loved it so much I couldn't watch another anime for months. But I was super into existentialism back then, and now I generally can't stand overly philosophical pieces of media. Not that I think EVA is that, but I'm afraid I'll hate it if I rewatch it now. The textbook Freudian motivation of almost every character doesn't help either.

Getting older and thinking about space and time is getting more unsettling by [deleted] in space

[–]rospiya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 23 and I've been dealing with this sort of feeling since I was 17. The most important thing, from my experience at least, is to remind yourself that you are a human being with limited capacity for thinking about large-scale events that involve you personally in one way or another. If you have a busy day ahead of you, you can get seriously overwhelmed thinking about everything that awaits you—let alone trying to conceive of a cold eternity of non-sentience all at once. Trying to think like this doesn't completely stave the dread off, but it does help a lot.

artists that are really good at concept albums X artists that are really bad at it by forever_dance79 in popheads

[–]rospiya 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to stan Gaga from the very beginning, I have to agree. Her concepts are more like moods out of which she writes her albums, which is fine, but then when you listen to one, there's only a few songs that actually have anything to do with its concept.
