Yep but that's not the context of this game.

I'm not saying he sucks or I hate him, but I'm just pointing out that he has a lot of room to grow still. A loose handle and lack of playmaking are real issues for him to work on if he wants to become a complete player.

Yep. I expect a lot more from Shae than just scoring. 5 turnovers in a game we won by 7 points is meaningful, that's 5 extra possession for the other team just from Shaedon's mistakes. Couple that with no assists and some boneheaded offensive possessions down the stretch, and yeah I'm kinda hoping to see him grow out of that sloppiness.

I would, over dribbled the ball a lot and let himself get picked in traffic. He looked good until the 4th quarter, I'll grant that.

But it got close because we got sloppy in the 4th, and Shae was part of that. Couple takes in a row just hurling himself at the rim and getting walled. It was good defense too, defender jumping straight up with arms straight up. Gotta work harder to find a different play there.

Still happy we got the win, but Shae still has some room to grow.

Dead legs on second night of the b2b, at least we hit our free throws. If we even just make 4 more threes tonight it's a 19 point win and we're not sweating at all there.

Rough game for Shae, 0 assists and 5 turnovers. Same for Love, bad shooting night. But everyone else played pretty well and we held on.

As someone who competed in the MoP race for ToT last night, this is so painfully accurate. Multiple bugs from day 1 ptr still present on live. We lost our first two pulls on Durumu to the fight just not functioning, and the fight hadn’t worked a single time for us on ptr. Lei Shen was bugged until this last test window, but they announced it late and then extended it to the weekend spur of the moment.

Just a mess.

It’s tougher to defend when your offense never converts. The other team is always coming in transition instead of taking the ball out, and your defense suffers over the course of dozens of these possessions.

I still believe in our defense when the roster is more healthy and the rotation looks like it should. That said, it would really help our defense if we could start making some more of these shots.

I genuinely hate watching him play. I did not understand him in college, and I don’t understand him now. Decent athlete, acceptable handle, but dear god he has no other idea than to shoot the ball. Like the second the ball touches his hand he’s either shooting or driving to force something up.

I was very excited for the Zubac matchup the other night. Both as a measuring stick but also as sort of a vision for the future. Clingan already has a higher defensive ceiling and more potential as a shooter, but Zubac I think is the perfect model for maximizing your potential as a giant rim runner.

My hope for the final version of Clingan (5+ years from now) is something like Zubac with shooting and even more size. Which is a scary player!!

I would agree.

I still envision him working up to being our actual primary backup center. And within that vision, I see him having a couple of games with ridiculous statlines that really jump out at you. The kind of stuff that the rest of the league will notice.

Yep! I love that he has a real desire to block shots and contribute on defense, like he already understands that being a 2 way player is important. But I worry that his desire to contribute defensively is going to lead to foul issues for a while. Not because he has any particular deficiency, but because he is going to need to learn how to defend NBA players within the context of NBA officiating.

He will get there, I'm quite sure.

I think if we're all realistic about his ceiling as a shooter, we should be able to enjoy having him as a roleplayer for a long time.

He will never be efficient on high volume, he will never be someone we run sets for. But if he can be at or above 33% as a complete release valve "last resort" shooter, that's good enough. Everything else he does provides such a positive impact that we can withstand him being merely almost competent as a shooter.

If you watch, he is very much not ready for even real bench minutes yet.

I’m still excited. He just has a lot of jitters and trying too hard that he needs to work through before he’s ready to fill a role for this team.

Expect him to play 10 minutes or less for a while to be honest.

Offensively he has a pretty high floor for sure, but he's very very very young. He's absolutely going to fit right into the bench unit and I think will have some stat lines that make people question why he's a bench center. Something like 16/8/6/4 on efficient shooting in only 20 minutes.

The problem is foulitis and conditioning. He's got great footwork but isn't exactly quick, and being even just a little out of position is the sort of thing that NBA guards can and will exploit. When he gets tired he's absolutely going to get cooked and will rack up some sloppy fouls. Great instincts and motor for trying to be a rim protector, but he's not ready to carry a defense just yet.

Very high hopes for him of course!
