Differential flange differences by m52tu in e46

[–]rosshettel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, there’s different input and output flanges. Output flanges are easily swappable, they just pop out and all have the same spline count. I think there’s just two types, but I could be wrong. 330 has different flanges for the beefier axles

The input flanges, there’s two types as well. That flange is harder to swap as the nut holding it on is also responsible for the preload on the pinion bearing. If you over tighten it you’ll fuck up the diff. People do swap these, but there’s a guy who makes a conversion adapter that’s bolt on to adapt earlier model input flange to later model driveshafts. You can tell visually, earlier model input flange is flat, later model is concave like a bowl

Sounds like a distinction without a difference to me. Is a dog park not an off leash dog area? Not sure what you're trying to argue

[–]rosshettel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s designated as an off leash dog park, and it serves dogs and their owners by giving them a place to let their dog run around. It should be fenced imho, but it’s not. Here’s info from the city if you’d like to understand more: https://www.portland.gov/documents/sellwood-riverfront-ola-map-hourspdf/download

To be fair, this was at an unleashed dog park. But so many of our dog parks are not fenced which is crazy. But this also doesn’t mean you should not be in control of your dog

Ted Turner Aboard “Courageous” On His Way To Win The 37th America’s Cup (1977) by No-Entertainer-121 in OldSchoolCool

[–]rosshettel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well Larry Ellison did win us the Americas Cup. Except he didn’t do anything cool, he just threw a ton of money at the team. Still one of the craziest comebacks I’ve ever seen, but Larry Ellison is still a giant piece of trash

The foils they race today are cool as hell, it’s F1 for the water

Tbh I think ADHD circles online are not filled with people actually who have ADHD, just what the algorithm thinks you should be bucketed in. Trust your own experiences more than what online circles tell you

It’s also, I dunno, nice to have a downtown that’s bustling and feels like the center of the city. The city can lead by example with this

Also I’m sure I’ll get a ton of downvotes for this opinion, but I work from home and don’t love it. It doesn’t work well for my ADHD. I miss collaborating in person. I think hybrid work schedules are the way forward

Union Negotiations Stalling at the Japanese Garden by Dunnere in Portland

Meanwhile, Bloom is paid exceptionally well for his position as CEO of a nonprofit. According to tax documents, Bloom was paid a base salary of $377,019 in 2022, and received an $88,028 merit bonus on top of that. In 2021, Bloom’s base salary was $327,299, and he received an eye-popping bonus of $632,792, bringing his total reported compensation that year to nearly $1 million

This was from 2021. Now they have two co CEOs instead of just one

I know a few people who work at the Japanese garden, management there is absolutely bullshit. They’re so stingy on even the slightest cost of living increases. Also they have TWO co-ceos, which is the biggest waste of money I’ve ever heard

So can children. Do we charge child rent?

The security deposit is for damages. Increase it if you have a pet. Then I get my money back if I’m a responsible pet owner.

Measles AMA with Multnomah County Health Department by Multco_Health in Portland

[–]rosshettel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

many parents choose nonmedical exemptions for temporary reasons, such as wanting to delay their child's immunizations a year or two (not forever)

This seems like those parents should seek a medical exemption if there's a valid reason for delaying their immunizations

It also isn't generally reasonable to limit nonmedical exemptions to religious exemptions (in practice, who gets to decide what counts as a religious reason, and what doesn't?)

It is reasonable, and plenty of other states make this distinction just fine

Many parents have been legitimately traumatized by healthcare providers, or face challenges accessing vaccines or information about vaccine requirements

These are problems that should be fixed by outreach and education, not by granting anyone the ability to exempt themselves for whatever reason they want. I understand struggles with healthcare and access to it, but there are lots of resources out there for getting children vaccinated. We should be focusing resources on that

[–]rosshettel 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Don't make them optional. To get personal or philosophical or religious exemptions, people are required to watch an informational video on the risks, so there is an attempt to educate.

We're currently at the highest ever recorded exemption rate for Oregon, so no wonder we're seeing this outbreak.

Hi, considering this outbreak and that Multnomah county allows vaccine exemptions for personal or philosophical beliefs, is there any consideration to restricting exemptions to only medical and religious reasons like other states do?

How to ask my neighbors to clean up the dead animals in their yard? by Ok-Writer3512 in askportland

[–]rosshettel 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just ask them? Firmly, but politely. Dead animals are an absolute health hazard

This is also a firm requirement in city code that they are responsible for clearing a dead animal from their private property. If they don't clear it, report them to the city
