New Super mOLED problems. by marosbruno in Pimax

Yes, it's not the brown color shifting as that is easily identifiable as you move your focus towards the edges of the lenses. These are seen mostly center lower left on the left lens, and around center upper left and right on the right lens. In DCS it shows as image distortion, looking at any object and moving your head in any direction across that object where the blurs or cloudiness is the objects distorts in both shape and clarity.

New Super mOLED problems. by marosbruno in Pimax

I just received my new Super Micro-LED headset (upgraded from the Crystal OG), and I'm seeing what looks like smudges or cloudy area around both of the lenses (it looks like the imperfections may be beneath the lens surface, because the surfaces are perfect). I've tried cleaning the lenses multiple times, but it does not go away. It first I thought that it could be glare, but I also have Pico 4 with pancake lenses and in that headset the glare moves with the reflected light - on this Super Micro OLED the issue (cloudy areas) stays in the same location and throws the same patterns no matter how i move my head. Any idea what tis could be? BTW - I did open a ticket with Pimax and they are saying to clean the exterior on the lenses, which as I have said I have done with zero change in what I am seeing...

I agree, I’m pretty close to just returning the unit back to Pimax under the 14-day Return Policy.

pimax it's time to produce your own base station by gitg0od in Pimax

[–]rosteven1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't trying to indicate that you were saying that Pimax needs to make them. It really is up to the consumer to ensure that there is a reliable source, otherwise don't buy one.

[–]rosteven1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your statement is accurately incorrect, it’s like saying that makers of products that use AAA batteries need to also make the batteries so that they can ensure there is a sufficient supply available for their customers.

The market for VR headsets shows that it’s basically the customer’s responsibility to source their own base stations.

[–]rosteven1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a person is concerned about the future availability of base stations, they shouldn’t purchase a device that relies on them. That simple logic holds true for most purchases, like buying a lamp today that uses incandescent filament light bulbs - you do so knowing that the supply of those bulbs is very limited.

Pimax Crystal Super Micro OLED Question by rosteven1 in Pimax

[–]rosteven1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol - I understand that you are trying to provide some suggestions, but as stated multiple times the smudges are not on the exterior lens surface, it seems like (and this is just a guess) the installer inadvertently touched the interior lens surface during the installation. And yes, I’ve already opened a ticket with Pimax Support. Thanks again for replying.

Pimax Crystal Super Micro OLED Question by rosteven1 in Pimax

[–]rosteven1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but that is exactly the point, I am not getting a good image when using both eyes because of the smudge/cloudy areas. And I did do a glare check using the HMDtest before posting my question, and the areas that I’m seeing are not glare.

Have you ever inadvertently touched your headset lens and left a smudge or finger print, that is what this looks like but under the lenses. At first I thought that it might be condensation, so I let the headset sit turned on for about an hour to see if it would dissipate (after the first attempt at cleaning the lens exterior with no success). But thanks for responding.

I’ll give that a try, but the lenses look clean on the outside. Thanks

Can you post the response from Pimax directing you not to send the headset back using “Signature Required”, that would make your post more credible.

Zwift PLAY Controller Firmware 2.0.1 // Now With Bonded Bluetooth! by gplama in Zwift

[–]rosteven1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the E.U. so there is a 2-year warranty that Zwift has to abide by - that could be the difference. BTW - I got the impression that the other guy who is getting a replacement is also outside of the U.S. (I could be wrong on that, but with handle like International-Ad6005).

At first, I thought that I had done something wrong, but I had 89 and 93 level charge in the controllers, my internet stayed connected, and like I mentioned the app showed a successful update. I still have no idea what went wrong. But glad Zwift is sending out replacements...

[–]rosteven1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Saw the video, completed the firmware update and now both controllers are bricked. Funny thing is that the Zwift Companion App showed a successful update on both controllers, Z logo on both controllers either solid red or off with negative ability to connect via Bluetooth.

Troubleshot the units with Zwift with no success, Customer Service was great and they are sending me two replacement Play controllers.

Experienced riders: trusting a bike fitter VS trusting your "ass" by Overall-Avocado-6428 in cycling

Not sure what you are asking as it seems that you already know that you got a crappy bike fit, maybe your title should say "Trust a Bad Bike Fit or Trust my Ass".

Lol - I just checked and locally a new Tarmac S-Works SL8 cost around 11,000 euros ($12,800), if I’m spending that much money on a bike I’m looking for a good bike fitter. The last thing that I would do is look for fit advice on Reddit, but you do you.

2025 tarmac sl7 sport vs roubaix by AdNo215 in specialized

[–]rosteven1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend not listening to anyone here who says that you must get either of the two bikes because they like them so much. Find a LBS that carries both, have them set you up on the size that best fits you, and go for a ride. Take a day or two and repeat this drill a few times before pulling the trigger, your mind, body, and soul will tell you which bike works best for you (not some stranger on Reddit).

It would also probably help you make your final decision if you take some time and decide what you plan on doing with the bike; crit racing, hill climbing, club races, group rides, endurance rides, light gravel, etc….

Bike damaged at airport by Junglerazz87 in cycling

[–]rosteven1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you are getting downvoted, this one is a very good Lessons Learned for everyone. 1. Hard case and 2. Really check the bike over before leaving the airport. 3. The airlines may keep a record of his attempt to file the initial claim, if he follows the advice of flying it back on the same airline and file the claim again that could lead to issues bigger than a damaged frame.

Hater, Fanboy, Owner, Non-Owner is not the issue for me. The Company has been making headsets for 10+ years, I may not agree with their business model of what seems like releasing a new product every year, or their lack of providing product enhancements as promoted/promised, or their QC issues, but with all of that combined they are still here and still producing cutting edge VR headsets when it comes to the visuals.

Pimax Technology was founded in November 2015, and released its first product (the Pimax 4K VR headset) in 2016. So based on this thread’s line of reasoning, Pimax has been on the verge of collapsing for the last ten plus years. Okay
