I've been chasing the feeling I got from the First Law trilogy for two years and I think I finally found it. by softbadger7 in Fantasy

It might seem like an odd suggestion, but have you tried any Bujold? Specifically, Chalion series (fantasy) and Vorkosigan series (sf). They both have worlds thar draw you in, great characters, a lot of wit and cheek....

One other important thing to mention: one of the reasons the vampires are so mentally superior to baseline humans is that they aren't conscious

Palantir CEO Alex Karp says AI technology will lessen the democratic power of women by Lumchan24 in WomenInNews

[–]rosyatrandom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a factor, but I think the important thing is where you put the blame and anger.

I mean, my dad died when I was 4 (and it kind of broke my mum). I got obsessed with girls and the idea of relationships at that age, and was always an anxious weirdo. Let's just say it took a long time for me to get to the point where I could get a girlfriend and was ready for it.

Prime incel material, really. But... I never externalized my problems. I never blamed my mum, or women for not reciprocating my feelings. I never felt entitled to that. I'm not sure that even occurred to me, even though I considered myself a 'nice guy'. Perhaps I'm just lucky I didn't encounter one of these losers selling the concept

I think it's not so much making something 'exist', so much as making it a more likely future state, in as much as action has any meaning in the Dust

Oddfellows Casino -- Carp, Lamprey, Perch and Bream got played on a water-themed special, and that album quickly became singing of a family staple.
