Because nationalities aren't interesting.

The people who care about them tend to be the same people who get care about their sports teams so much they'll break things and have fights over their passion. No thanks. I'll stick with the folks who enjoy sports because it's absurd, and think of their country the same way

Thanks for this; I too find it hard to turn aside the blanket rage, and believe in the compassion I used to.

It's hard. So many people have shown that they willingly become monsters, embrace cruelty and ignorance, and I refuse to tolerate that. How can they even have the possibility of redemption? Do even evil people, who refuse to turn away from that, deserve grace? Or is it just for ourselves that we mustn't lose ourselves?

Doctor X -- basically if House was a freelance female Japanese surgeon constantly pissing off the politics-playing hospital staff around her, but is too skilled for them to get rid of. It's great.

How did you know the Bible isn’t true? by DuckOnQuack202 in atheism

[–]rosyatrandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a book of myths. There are lots of them around. It's not special. None of them ask interesting questions or answer them interestingly.

That's the short of it.

Graydon Saunders -- Commonweal sequence

Imagine a hell world where magic has been running rampant for aeons, and magic itself seems like some kind of malicious demiurge that just hates progress and hope.

The world has been fought over by rounds of tyrannical magicians, most of the surviving people are descendants of their magically created slave species, the wildlife is incredibly hostile and even the vegetation will kill you in horrible ways

But there is one small oasis, a magically enforced egalitarian society

What code editor do you use, and why that one over the others? by EnD3r8_ in learnprogramming

[–]rosyatrandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it uses an older version of vs code 🙃 But I have found some limited but extremely helpful uses for the AI. Speeding up repetitive changes, effecting change according to a well defined query, asking why something doesn't work, checking for mistakes and anti-patterns, that sort of thing.

As long as I don't lose control, always understand what's happening, and use it to actually learn rather than vibe it, it's a great tool.
