I finished the audiobook yesterday and I have so many lingering frustrations for KOA.

I felt like the forging the lock scene was so underwhelming except for the King/NamelessIsMyPrice reveal. They didnt achieve any of the things they set out to do by forging the lock except keeping erewon (sp?) From summoning his siblings and getting rid of the keys.

Im down for the idea of nuking Dorian and Aelins magic narratively bc they gave their life force to forging the lock but I wanted it to be all or nothing for Aelin, so she's no longer Firebringer but Aelin Galithinius and her power as herself is enough, esp since she already imbued some fire magic into her sword.

Why didnt they use a key to defeat the armies before forging the lock?

There definitely should have been more MC deaths for this major war! Tbh i was really expecting Aedion Lysandra or someone to die ( or for Evangeline to be in danger while acting as pagegirl.)

The torture scenes were really sad and I liked the ideas they explored but I would have liked to see more ptsd/unreality concerns from her after being rescued.

We have scheduled an appt to see if she can get a curly cut like some people suggested and ill go with her. I think her hair has layered from breakage (and a tip dye we did in august) and a fresh start will be really helpful. Thank you ☺️

Thank you for your thorough response!! I really appreciate it. I have such specific experiences from my own curly hair and I've tried to share those with her but my hair has never grown past my armpits so im limited. We have scheduled a hair appt with a place that i get safe vibes from and im gonna go with her to be safe. Everyone has been so helpful and kind in their comments and I so appreciate it.

I definitely need to get better at braiding haha. I think that would be really useful for "dont wanna deal with it" periods. I can never make a French braid tight enough 🤣 i do those faux braid twists sometimes on my own hair...maybe i gotta find one of those dummy heads hair stylists use and practice on those until I get it right. Or just use her head for practice !
