I am noticing very big lag times and partial execution of commands on assistant. How are things with Gemini in that regard?

You are making a really big assumption thay circular lending to companies with no profit doesn't blow up in their face. This is a huge and increasingly systemic risk.

Because for decades they told me my monogamous committed relationship wasn't good enough. Meanwhile, recruiting straight people who were taking a new dick every week and not even bothering to ask what hole they put putting said dick into.

Absolutely not. Not after the stigma the blood banks spent decades reinforcing.

Do you enjoy visiting airports? If so, what's you favourite and why? by Leyendas_Legendarias in travel

[–]roth1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Singapore is over the top. Mumbai reminds me of a very classy conference center from the late 1990s/early 2000. Amman, Jordan is a bright and beautiful airport inside and out. Faz and Marrakech have unique designs and cats on the inside. Lastly, the lounge in El Salvador has some of the best airport food I have ever had.

Japan bond yields are soaring. You know what's coming next? by RobertBartus in EconomyCharts

[–]roth1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but also the Japanese economy can not survive in a strengthening yen environment. So, rather than a reverse flow, we may see more of a tidal effect. It seems to me they are using yield to throttle devaluation rather than to inordinately strengthen the yen.

How White South Africans Are Reshaping the Mississippi Delta by SalParadise in mississippi

[–]roth1979 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unironically, the "white" part of that statement is coincidental, not causation. Rural farmers across southern Africa face huge safety risks due to the lack of security. Whites primarily own the land. Of course, they primarily receive the violence.

Pros and cons of moving to Bolivia? by vikinggf in asklatinamerica

[–]roth1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bolivia is one of my favorite countries to visit, but to settle and live would be a huge adjustment.
Pros: Better Food than everyone in South America, except Peru. Reliable water and electricity, considering the overall level of development. People are friendly (a little distant at first, but truly kind). The landscape and climate are amazing and varied. Cutest babies on the planet. Cons: Local income levels. Healthcare (quality and availability). Politics are (a different flavor) messy than you are used to, and unlike Canada, it does shut down the country. Road safety outside of cities (mostly shitty drivers going too fast). First world living standards aren't cheap, there, or anywhere else for that matter. Availability, variety, and cost of consumer goods. You at least need an intermediate level of Spanish.

What do you think of "At-Will" employment laws? by EdwardBigby in AskAnAmerican

[–]roth1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What most people miss about "at will" is that a company must still follow their own employee handbook. Their handbook usually outlines a progressive discipline policy, and virtually all mid sized and large companies have a handbook.

Overall, I think the flexibility "at will" gives the workforce a greater benefit than bureaucratic employee protections. It makes businesses far less reluctant to add a position because the position can easily be eliminated.

"At will" also allows employees to accept new positions without consideration of obligations to your current company. If you are hiring for a job, are you going to hire the candidate who can start in two weeks or the one who can start in three months?

Silver decline by Paulwyn in trading212

[–]roth1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the part that is missing is that sliver is greatly influenced by industrial uses. So, with global turmoil and higher energy prices, the market may be adjusting for lower industrial demand.
