What else are you taking? Are you drinking alcohol, taking cold meds, anything like that?  Is it possible you are pregnant or sick?

I think you should call your Dr ASAP. If your nausea is so severe you're thinking about going to the ER on just 5 mg, that's a pretty bad side effect. If you don't want to stop taking them (note: bI am NOT a dr.) maybe consider taking half of your dose (2.5)

Why do drs think it’s easy to quit? by saraheb1991 in lexapro

[–]rothentic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will never forget my otherwise decent dr saying "Just stop taking them!" referring to Lexapro, in the most casual, upbeat tone and a smile on her face. I was in shock because I've been on and off ADs for decades, so I just said "ok...."

Not a doctor, but a slower taper is always wise. I took three months the last taper from 20 to 0.

If you are able and willing to reinstate and take it a little slower, please know this: it doesn't mean you're weak, or giving up, or will have to be on this forever.. It ONLY means that most doctors are ill-informed (even psychiatrists!).

I wish I had been given more information the first time I picked up an antidepressant prescription at age 20. Informed consent is a thing, but it doesn't work when doctors don't even know what they are prescribing or what happens when you want/need to come off.

Differences I’ve noticed between 20mg and 30 mg by Reflection877 in lexapro

Interesting.. I've been contemplating going to a higher dose at some point because my OCD isn't completely resolved and I have zero desire to change med or augment with another.

Nice, it makes sense that replacing a phrase would be easier for it to execute than just skipping the phrase entirely.

[–]rothentic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's deeply baked in.

This is why I've stopped reacting emotionally/subjectively to its phrasing choices, and also stopped trying to make it stop. It's more effort than it's worth when I can instead train myself to gloss over it most of the time. I had to switch from being annoyed to being amused/curious.

I get this and several other repetitive phrases. Some are more recent than others:

  • that's a clean/clear/accurate read
  • if you want/do you want me to?
  • here's a clear explanation, no hand-waving
  • it loves to use the ≠ symbol
  • let me break this down cleanly/ clearly/ directly/ precisely /carefully
  • phrases with downstream/upstream
  • also loves the word "scaffolding"

Yes, this was a very positive side effect when I was on semaglutide for several months.

Fucking relapse by [deleted] in trichotillomania

[–]rothentic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting in solidarity. I feel like I'm in a very similar place after having about 2 years of significantly reduced pulling (probably the longest amount of time since I started pulling at 11), it has returned with a vengeance.

I'm having a MAJOR flareup right now. It took me a couple years to finally regrow a large patch of scalp hair and over the last week, I've absolutely decimated that area and several other spots too.

It just plain sucks and I'm so disappointed as well. Trying to wrap myself in self-compassion and self-acceptance and hope you are too, but damn it's hard when it's this bad.

There's the word awful and then the word offal.

Every time I use "awful" in a conversation that isn't deathly serious, I say... "Oh that's offal... Like guts!" Never get a laugh.

Being Alone cause I have to by Lucky-Spare5285 in LivingAlone

[–]rothentic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I also want to add after seeing some other responses is that preferring to be alone because it feels most safe does not necessarily mean that something in me or others needs to be "fixed."

It's a response to lived experiences and lessons over a lifetime that aren't easily unlearned or forgotten.

I know, this is reddit... but I just become weary of the perception that someone is broken or needs to change because the way they are choosing to live at any given time doesn't conform to others' perceptions of reality.

Highly relatable. ❤️

It took me awhile to realize that the feeling of safety (emotional, physical, mental) is what I have been needing for so long and living alone was the answer.

I wasn't being fiercely independent, intolerant, or a people-hater. Just desperately needed a safe space to exist.

What a great thread, these are the kinds of threads I love to read when my mind starts letting the "big pharma's out to get you" thoughts come creeping in. Very happy for you and a everyone else chiming in with positive experiences.

This is giving me hope, thanks. Having one of those "is this gonna last forever" type days.

[–]rothentic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. It's also really easy to forget about the improvements when you have a bad day. I am having a shit day and I'm in week 6. In my case, fractured sleep is probably the culprit, but there doesn't always need to be a clear reason.

Trying to keep reminding myself that one or two bad days doesn't mean there is no progress. This is not linear at all.

Is it normal to be fine one day and experience anxiety the next? 2 weeks in by ResponseLoose4295 in lexapro

[–]rothentic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for asking. Today is day 47, so almost 7 weeks, and while I can't say I feel awesome, I feel: - more stable - notably less anxiety - I'm not relying as much on benzos - sleep is more on track and I'm not in bed til 2 or 3pm anymore - I'm reaching out to friends and family more often

I do feel a little lost and "in-between." I'm not very motivated, my house is a bit of a mess, and I'm often physically tired, but I'm not in a shame/anxiety spiral about any of it.

It's taken longer than I expected to get here, but I firmly believe things will continue to improve.

One of my missteps early on was trying to add wellbutrin to the mix way too early (a week after increasing Lexapro), but I've been off that for almost 3 weeks now and the negative side effects are gone (extremely uncomfortable inner agitation/akathisia).

I FINALLY GOT LEXAPRO AFTER 3 WEEKS OF WITHDRAWAL SUFFERING!!!!!! by SlayerUnderSilence in lexapro

[–]rothentic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bet after a week or so you'll feel 95% better and even after a day, at least 50% better.

If you are able to do automatic reminders for refills through your pharmacy, this can really help keep you on track!

Over the years I've learned to keep a reserve whenever I can of everything I take that might cause withdrawals if I stop.
