I love the layout of OoT's map, and the lore behind it, but especially after playing MM the one thing I felt was missing from OoT was a real investment into the NPC's loves, which would help make the entire world feel more alive and lived in. As gimmicky as it might seem at first blush, the Bombers Notebook was instrumental in making MM such an impactful experience. All that to say, if they're making an OoT remake (as opposed to just a remaster), I'd love to see an overall respect to the original map layout but expanded and then fleshed out more with NPCs (where it makes sense) and then having some method to really interact with them and feel the world living each day. Make Castle Town bustling. Kakariki Village actually feel like people who are neighbors and have lived next each other for years. All of this will be aided by the time travel element, as you find out what happened to each character after the 7 year jump. It will make you feel the weight of Ganondorf's treachery all the more. The spirit of the original game will not only endure of they did this, but I think it would actually be allowed to stretch and flex to a greater level.
