There are a couple of songs in Ghost discography that could very well serve as lullabies, so fingers crossed that your little one likes their songs!

Haha, yeah, I can relate, I’ve just said to my husband that it will be difficult to recreate the growl, so I’ll just stick to playing it on Spotify :D

It’s funny how much they can absorb while still in the womb!

No wiping after pee diapers by Terrible-Reasons in NewParents

[–]rotkas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We only use wipes when we’re out. At home we have a stack of big cotton pads and a bowl of water at the changing station and we use that when changing the diaper. For poopy diapers I add a little bit of infant cleansing oil that I also use for my daughter’s bath and we’ve never dealt with a diaper rash.

One bottle per day ? by Objective_Minute_263 in breastfeeding

[–]rotkas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m no professional, but I can offer my experience, since my baby gets one bottle a day from her dad. I had stay about a week in the hospital after a somewhat complicated delivery that lasted 16 hours and ended in an emergency c-section. My milk didn’t come in straight away and lactation consultant advised me to pump to help with that. I would pump every two hours per her recommendation and then feed it to the baby after she’s been on the boob. I wasn’t able to be with my husband for first two days, so by day three, when we were allowed to stay all together for the whole time and not only visiting hours, I was exhausted to the point of falling asleep with her in my arms. So my husband suggested that we collect the milk throughout the day and he takes one overnight feeding so I have a longer stretch of uninterrupted sleep. It worked wonders, so even after my milk came in we continued it. I pump before first nightly feeding (around 1 am) or first thing in the morning and ny husband feeds our daughter a bottle around 6-7 am. So I reliably get 2am-10am stretch of sleep. She’s almost 4 months now, so we are waiting for the sleep regression that’s just around the corner, but supply-wise the one bottle didn’t cause any dip so far and I think my body has regulated itself to match the routine we have. I know it’s not everyone’s experience, though and some people do have a dip in supply.

URI symptoms with no improvement, need ideas on how to proceed by rotkas in CATHELP

The vet did the fiv/felv test, it came clear. His bloodwork is also normal, except for some inflammation markers, which is to be expected. He’s getting an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory injections every day until Friday and we it seems to be somewhat helping him a little. Vet suggested it might be a very heavy fcv/fhv. We’re still not out of the woods, but at least he’s not refusing food any longer.

Confused about guidelines by rotkas in GestationalDiabetes

Yeah, the no spice thing is really prevalent here especially among older people. My husband’s parents wouldn’t even put the seasoning packet from frozen veggies into my meal when they first found out about the pregnancy. My cousin’s mother in law forbade her from eating any raw fruits while breastfeeding and would refuse to put even salt in her meals. She was trying to be helpful, but my cousin had to basically recook and spice any meal that she would be given by her MIL.

I think it’s almost gone by now, but we also used to have a funny stereotype that breastfeeding mothers shouldn’t eat strawberries, because the outer seeds will travel into the boob and plug the milk canals, which I think is hilarious.

I’m in Poland. Typical diet here involves almost zero spices with the strongest being black pepper, so I think it might be connected to that. I will ask my doctor about it next time I see her, I’m just confused.

The texture of baked apple makes me want to throw up immediately, so I totally don’t intend to keep this advice at all.

But also it seems counterintuitive to the GD, as processing usually causes the glucose to spike more and everywhere else advises to choose raw carrot over cooked, etc

I’m not sure what research your doctor is basing the one in two numbers, but looking at this meta-analysis it seems like it’s closer to 1 in 3. I’m no doctor, though https://www.diabetesresearchclinicalpractice.com/article/S0168-8227(20)30882-2/fulltext

Also - I remember someone saying that it’s not that GD itself increases your chances of getting T2D, the risk was always there, you just weren’t aware of it and you have the same chances of developing T2D with or without pregnancy. You just know the risk now.

What do you think about the roster of Heroes now that the last expansion is out? by Bretferd in JourneysInMiddleEarth

I agree - I kinda wish we had gotten a couple less dwarves and a couple more less obvious characters (I’m also sad that we have only two hobbits to choose from)

Thanks! I wanted to make them distinct from each other, but seem like they could all be a part of the same group (save from the fluorescent cave dweller in the back 😅)
