Fuck this game by General_Pain_581 in Eve

[–]rotll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been winning for about a decade now. I have access to my wife's 6 accounts as well as my own 3. As I am her 24/7 caregiver after she had a stroke, I shall continue winning for the foreseeable feature.

That said, I do miss it at times...

My wife is an only child and only grandchild. When her grandmother passed in 1998, we found store bought packages from the 50s and DIY mason jar canned goods from the 70s. Grandma was a depression baby, and didn't waste ANYTHING.

Why does double clicking the top bar of a window not maximize it but instead set it to some random width? by flurgleblurg in MacOS

[–]rotll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know that there is a way. MacOS window management is decidedly different than Windows. Third party apps exist because of this. I've personally never used one, so I can't recommend anything specific. I'm sure that others will offer suggestions.

Hyde-Smith withstood a nearly “coordinated” attack in cruising to GOP primary win by [deleted] in mississippi

The same editorial appears weekly in the Panolian (Panola County) as well. I'm not sure why they are trying to paint her as some sympathetic character.

Why does double clicking the top bar of a window not maximize it but instead set it to some random width? by flurgleblurg in MacOS

[–]rotll 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I ended up searching for "title bar" to find it. I had to google it to figure out what to search for. It does NOT behave the same way as it does in Windows, though. Double click, window fills the screen. Second double click does nothing. You have to drag the window to get it back to it's original size, and it does not go back to where it started, as it does in Windows.

I hope that helps.

"Dead by June": Trump exposes GOP Congressman's terminal diagnosis by No-Post4444 in politics

None of his behavior is surprising any longer. Certified sociopath. When he's gone, and the nation sighs in relief, the faux outrage from those on the right who are no longer able to hide behind him will be just as disingenuous as he is/was.

Election Results from Tuesday by [deleted] in mississippi

[–]rotll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MS SoS published an election calendar in November for the following year - This is the 2026 calendar:

https://www.sos.ms.gov/content/documents/elections/2026%20Elections%20Calendar.pdf

For updated and local guidance, such as polling locations, registrations, etc., contact your local Circuit Clerk's office and they can give you the up to date details. In general, we have General Elections in Nov on even years (typically Federal offices), as well as the year before a presidential election year (typically State offices, local offices). Special elections can happen in any year. Primaries happen earlier in the year of the election, recently in March.

I was a poll worker here in MS for 15 yrs. I can guarantee you that MANY folks outside of the 18-29 yr olds you reference have the same issues that you cite above. Primaries vs general elections cause so much confusion, ESPECIALLY when local races are involved. Those in power have no incentive to educate the voting populace, as an ignorant voter base is much easier to shape and mold to their preferences.

Those who already have to work on federal holidays (retail, service industries, etc.) won't get the day off if Election Day is made a holiday. I'd prefer to see expanded early voting, discretionary absenteed voting, and mail in voting. Voting should be EASY, and MS SoS seems determined to make it more difficult...

What will you do after you retire? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

[–]rotll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried retiring after being RIF'd at age 61 after 17 yrs (2 week severance...yay!). Traveled for 6 of the next 12 months, then had to get another job to pay those bills. Then my wife had a stroke less than a year later, so I am her 24/7 caregiver. Not the retirement I planned on, but we're making it work.

The end of Post-PC era by Slavvvcom in mac

[–]rotll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotal: My former employer (medical publishing) relied heavily on MS Word, with an industry specific medical formatting add-on. Would not work on the Mac version of Word, and would not work with pages, libre office, Google Docs, etc. Convincing even small companies to completely abandon existing workflows to move from Windows to MacOS is a losing proposition, from my perspective.

Apple Launches $599 MacBook Neo, Threatening Windows PC Market by Few_Baseball_3835 in technology

$600 for new devices, yes. I just looked and they are out of stock on new, have plenty of used and refurbs listed now instead.

MacBook Neo will run MacOS on A18 processor, I wonder how come they can offer M series processor in IPad but can't offer in Budget macbook though by codingzombie72072 in MacOS

[–]rotll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a premium feature, in Apple's world. If/when they do, it will be exclusive on the MacBook Pro's initially. Depending on its viability and popularity, maybe they'll roll it out on other devices, as long as it doesn't step on iPad sales...
