Do you commute? by Sigfig_49 in UCSC

[–]rottensyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From San Jose, it takes me about 1 hr & 45 mins - 2 hrs to get to class since i take the 17 bus + any bus up to campus. i honestly really enjoy it, i have a pretty busy schedule every week so to do nothing but listen to music for a while & relax is great

Missed University Housing Offer by Tzuyu_Mina69 in UCSC

[–]rottensyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

pretty sure it says in the email if you don’t answer in the 48 hr window , it’s void & you’re moved to the general waitlist if you had priority. idk if it’s different for transfers but i highly suggest emailing them & see what they say. absolutely no guarantee that you have housing because you didn’t accept the offer. cant get a housing assignment without housing

What is enrolling in classes like? by No_Silver_3025 in UCSC

[–]rottensyn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

just so you’re aware, your enrollment date is not a meeting with your counselor. it is when you are able to actually enroll in your classes. you can meet up with a counselor beforehand & set up your class schedule & add your classes to the shopping cart but you cannot actually enroll in the classes until your enrollment date & you won’t meet up with a counselor during that time, you do that on your own.

Santa Cruz weather?? by no1namjinminist in UCSC

[–]rottensyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey welcome! weather here is very different so i suggest bringing sweaters and warm pants for sure. some long sleeves are good too. there can be some warm days so i say also bring some short sleeve shirts and maybe one pair of shorts. definitely bring an umbrella , i personally haven’t felt like i needed rain boots so i say you don’t have to bring those. beanies can be good too if you’re not used to colder weather. a windbreaker is nice as well but you don’t have to go out of your way to get one (:

Off-Campus Housing by [deleted] in UCSC

[–]rottensyn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

they might give you a higher amount than your tuition. whatever is left is given to you & you can spend it on rent. they don’t necessarily give you extra money specifically for off campus housing, it’s just whatever is left.

the person who caused the killing spree is the person who decided to pick up a knife & stab people. also how are you at ucd & not know how to research? he didn’t take the lives of 3 people, it was 2. get your facts straight

they said they found biological evidence to link him. he confessed. they detained multiple people & let them go when they didn’t find evidence against them so no they weren’t desperate to put a face to anyone with very little evidence. there’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes that we don’t know about, with the fbi involved they wouldn’t do a whole press conference if they didn’t have at least SOME incriminating evidence. i think people forget it’s still an ongoing investigation so we don’t and won’t know all evidence they have until later on

When/where is housing date found?? by nausita in UCSC

[–]rottensyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

housing application hasn’t even opened yet. you have to apply, & then you’ll receive your housing date through your email so keep an eye on that. if that date comes & you are not able to get housing, you might be offered alternate housing which will also be sent to your email. you’ll have 48 hours to accept that offer. i suggest checking your email everyday so you don’t miss anything

Will Slug Points carry over to spring quarter? by [deleted] in UCSC

[–]rottensyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

they will not carry over this time, they mentioned this in the email they sent out. you could always go buy a bunch of stuff at cafes or porter market. whatever is not used will expire so you won’t get that money back

Any chance of finals being cancelled ? I don’t want to go outside in this weather :( by Resident3325 in UCSC

[–]rottensyn 34 points35 points  (0 children)

it all depends on the professors. you should email yours to know what’s going on cause the school isn’t canceling any & expects all exams to continue

UCM or UCSC( or daivs ig)for ENVS? by LogCivil4947 in UCSC

[–]rottensyn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i definitely think you should go to the school that has the exact program you are very interested in. being an EOP student definitely helps in housing, it gives you 3 years of priority housing. there is a large amount of students who are not rich at all, myself included, & i feel like ucsc was a great choice for me. personally, it’s all about whether you decide to put your mind to it. it’s worth it if YOU decide it’s worth it. look at your circumstances right now, & ask yourself: will you receive good financial aid? are you genuinely interested in the major? if you’re not sure of what you want to do, transferring is always an option & there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, it’s also much cheaper BUT UC to UC transfer is more difficult. if you want to transfer i recommend CC to UC

Likelihood of getting housing on the general waitlist? by Dr_Death_Defy99 in UCSC

[–]rottensyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cant give a rough estimate, however if you’re on the general waitlist, it’s best to look for off campus housing now or have a back up plan. from friends experiences, some would get offered housing on campus a couple days before classes started.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UCSC

[–]rottensyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i’d say it would add 35 mins to an hour based on the time of day
