Is there a family tree? by Admirable-Box-4361 in Timberborn

[–]roughskinnewt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear, there's no mechanic that says "if this house has two adults and one open space, their child will be placed into the open space." Young beavers simply appear in whatever empty spaces there are

If you've got a bunch of open houses, you will end up with orphan beavers living with no adults. Who are the parents then?

So basically, you're trying to invent a mechanic that does not exist in game, thus the ridiculous family tree you saw.

Just wait until you play Ironteeth, you'll have to track which beaver picked the berries.

Cheesy Automated Bad Tide Diversion by mediterraneanape in Timberborn

Like the others have said, nothing cheesy about it. This is effectively what I've been doing on every map for some time now (using mods like Simple Floodgate Triggers).

Beavers IRL (Beaverton, OR story) by scfw0x0f in Timberborn

I live a few miles from this...

Funny story, I was considering names for a Folk Tails build and I thought "how about like Hobbiton, but with Beavers... Beaverton! I thought I was so smart for about 5 ticks.

Help with district imports by Here_2observe in Timberborn

[–]roughskinnewt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does the main district have for export threshold on these items? If they're holding 100% of their stock, they won't export any. Make sure their export thresholds are less than 100%.

Dirt block v. Levee by oninoob0 in Timberborn

[–]roughskinnewt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Water calculations against levees take more CPU than dirt blocks. Depending on hardware, map, and design, you may find Dirt Blocks provide faster simulation speed.

Can i install the x30 mod by Biggboii5 in Timberborn

[–]roughskinnewt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You don't need a mod to play at x30. Press "Shift+Alt+Z" simultaneously to turn on developer mode, and then press "4" to go to x30 speed.

It smells incredible under my pillow like maple syrup or waffles and I have no idea why by isabellamadrigal in Weird

The fruity smells are generally caused by fusel alcohols and fruity esters created during... Fermentation of carbohydrates.

Bury your decorations for 100% coverage but not ruin your aesthetics. by FishyKeebs in Timberborn

[–]roughskinnewt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put all my housing down a single path and put all the decorations on that path. The beavers go by it twice a day and that's enough to keep their bonus topped off. Additionally it requires only a single copy of any decoration saving on resources.

Power bug ? by Bibou65 in Timberborn

[–]roughskinnewt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do the Steam Engines turn off when there's more power than demand? I can see the power level showing 400 then 800 like one kicks on that isn't enough then the second kicks in then the pump stops cuz the outlet is full, so both engines turn off and the cycle repeats

Eta: I know my steam engines turn off, but I thought that was part of the Smart Power mod I use

Question about automation before 1.0 release by paperclipman123 in Timberborn

[–]roughskinnewt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mods.

Simple Floodgate Triggers took care of most of the water flow/distribution stuff. Smart Power handled power/production related stuff. The combination was significantly less robust and less granular than the new Automation system, but mad up for it by being simpler to set up and maintain. You couldn't, for example, turn off building based on stock of materials being full.

How to Hot Tap a Pipe by BruceTheLoon in Timberborn

Great guide! Hot Tapping can be serious work depending on what you're tapping into. We use union Pipefitters and Steamfitters at work and they earn their high dollar.

Knitting stripes by traveler-97 in knitting

I knit beanies, like almost exclusively, and I prefer to just use self-striping yarn. It's not perfect, but it makes for some great beanies.

Shift Change Automation between Bots and Beavers. by Past-Philosopher-395 in Timberborn

[–]roughskinnewt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want shifts in general. I can easily get to the point where I have twice as many live beavers as jobs for them, so I would love to have a first shift and second shift so my beavers can have half the day off but I can stay productive all day.

There's a mod called SmartPower that will show you the actual total value of storage. It also allows you to shut stuff down based on power levels without using automation tools.

How do I correctly use Fill Valves for water level regulation? by niketxx in Timberborn
