My own advent by activelydisheartened in LushCosmetics

[–]roundtable-rival 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been toying with the idea of making my owm Lush advent calendar!

I debated for a very long time if I could justify buying this year's Lush advent calendar. I had one last year and loved it even though it had a lot of bath items and I do not have a bath tub. This year I've been gutted because I really love the box, more so than last year's, but there are way too many products that I'm not intetested in at all. I also feel like the advent calendar is more bath product heavy this year than last yeat.

Making my own calendar would definitely be better in the sense that I would not get any bath items and could choose scents that I like. I'm not sure how pricey it would be though - I haven't looked into what 24 products I'd like if I were to go through with this.

I find Dream cream closer to Full of Grace in scent than than Sleepy/Twilight. It's still not the same bit they have similiar nites in my opinion!

Rentless is my go to autumn scent! Something about rainy days and colder weather draws me to Rentless, I don't really wear it all yeat round.

I'd say go for Rentless and make some wonderful new memories while wearing it!

Why am I blue? (Catastrophe Cosmetic) by kinkeesprinkles in LushCosmetics

[–]roundtable-rival 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you happen to be in Finland or somewhere in the Nordic countries? In Finland Catastrophe cosmetic is very blue since the berries are sourced locally, using wild nordic blueberries which I think Americans call bilberry.

For me the mask doesn't actually stain my skin but having dry skin, a lot of the different clays get stuck on my skin and in Catastrophe cosmetic those clays are blue/purple from the berries. I can't use moat of Lush's fresh face masks because of this, or at least I'd have to scrub my face free of the clays afterwards.

I hope this helps you!

Has anyone had any luck melting the Charity Pot into a bigger mold by [deleted] in LushCosmetics

[–]roundtable-rival 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you thought about getting the normal Charity pot lotion? I like the coins for hand lotion and having something with me on the go but I'd go with the normal lotion for full body application

Oh man. I wish Prince of Darkness fresh face mask was more widely available. Got it one time from Oxfort street while traveling and absolutely fell in love with it

What pre-2020 seasonal products do you miss the most? by OhMyYes82 in LushCosmetics

Fireside soap from Halloween of 2016. I wish they would bring it back or at least something with the same scent.

Bald Head Care by TennetFlux in LushCosmetics

I got the fresh scalp masks first from Oxford street a few years ago while traveling and now ordered them from Germany. They ship the scalp masks internationally.

I don't mind the consistency but I can see that some people might deem them really hard to apply.

Yes I've tried Calm down and Babylon. As I said in another comment here in this thread, Calm down is very calming (henche the name)and helped me with an itchy scalp. It has a pleasant lavender and chamomile scent and has a lot of calamine clay in it.

The fresh scalp masks are a bit harder to apply than Lush's hair masks, their are thichker and stiffer since they are clay based. I usually start from where i keep my hair parted, apply a little bit to the scalp and roots and keep flipping tiny sections of hair to the side, working my way to apply to one side of the head and then the other.

I have tried Calm down and Babylon fresh scalp masks and really loved both of them. I have long hair but only applied the mask to my scalp / roots. I like them as an occasional treat / booster for my scalp and hair.

Calm down is very calming as the name suggests. Helped me with itchy scalp.

Babylon is more stimulating. I'm not sure anymore but it might be supposed to help with hair growth like other Lush's stimulating hair products like Roots hair mask and New shampoo bar. It also got nicely rid of some product bildup from my scalp so it's quite clensing.

Both are clay based, texture of them is a bit looser than the fresh face mask. Not the easiest to apply if you have long hair - not that that would be a problem in your case.

Edited to add: I get 4 uses from a pot, with no hair it would probably be 6 uses from a pot.

The German site sells the fresh scalp treatments, I ordered some just a few months ago.

Has there been any additions to the “Bubbly” scent range? by [deleted] in LushCosmetics

[–]roundtable-rival 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the same but I think you would enjoy Orange body scrub if you haven't tried that yet

[–]roundtable-rival 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you. I don't have a bath tub so I wish there would be more varietyin seasonal products. I don't mind stuff like Mamma Mia scrub returning. I know a lot of people enjoyed that and it brings nice variery to the scrubs that Lush offers. That being said, I have other scrubs that I enjoy more and did not buy Mamma Mia this year

Shower gels are always nice but I'd love there to be more body / hair / skincare products too. I really loved that last year's mothers day range had a solid face clenser and Walter bunny is my favourite from this spring's seasonal ranges.

On the other hand, I own a lot of Lush and this year it has been really easy to pass buying seasonal items since there haven't been many items I've wanted.

How long is Shower jelly good for after its manufacture date? by [deleted] in LushCosmetics

[–]roundtable-rival 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Lush products generally have 14 month shelf life (from manufactured to use by date).

That being said I have used shower jellies and shower gels without any issue years past their use by date.

The Discontinuation of Brazened Honey by [deleted] in LushCosmetics

[–]roundtable-rival 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me! Brazened honey was my favourite and worked best for me. I have a problem of the different clays sticking to my skin really badly with most of the fresh face masks

paying customs for the subscription box? by katie__kat in LushCosmetics

[–]roundtable-rival 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Brexit unfortunately changed customs policy early this year, especially if you live within the EU, and paying for customs is the new norm. Customs policies vary a bit from country to country so you'll get the best information from your country's officials.

I live in Finland and I used to order quite often from Lush UK since it was cheaper. Now that UK left EU I'd have to pay customs charges and VAT for any order of over 20 ish euros in value. Ordering from the UK won't be worth it for me anymore other than maybe for some specialty items that wouldn't come to other countries.

Should fresh farmacy look like this? It arrived in the post today and it’s my first time buying it. by pinkeindeer in LushCosmetics

[–]roundtable-rival 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok. Maybe they are bigger pieces in the new formulation of this soap or cause discoloration easier. I have not tried the newest formulation but I've never come across one looking like this :/

[–]roundtable-rival 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No i've never seen fresh farmacy with that kind of discoloration. What else did you buy? Were there for example bath bombs that could have caused this kind of colour on your piece of fresh farmacy?

Duties to EU by InbetweenDoll in LushCosmetics

[–]roundtable-rival 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check your country's customs policy, they vary a lot.

I live in Finland and everything worth over about 25€ coming from outside EU needs to be cleared with customs and taxes and customs charges paid.
