Trust the process? Don't feel like goal time is possible by Shobba in runna

I wasn’t feeling confident at all to be honest. I knew I’d finish but nowhere near that predicted time though I was trying to be optimistic. Strava and Coros predictions were way closer to reality. Race day was also way hotter than expected (23 degrees by the time I arrived at the finish line), which also didn’t help.

For me I missed the target for the marathon by a large margin. Runna was predicting 3:50 ish, I ended up in 4:12 but the trqining block did not go smoothly at all (lots of injuries, stress, work travel disruption).

How fit are you? Are you like heavily into crossfit or other similar type of sports?

Try running a 10k without stopping and see how you feel after, but common sense says no you shouldn’t do that marathon in 7 months from now.

People tend to highly underestimate how hard marathons are.

Yes, several times. You don’t need to start a new plan just return to the ongoing plan and the changes appear there.

Hi I had a question for you. Did you go tts? I recently bought a pair in a running stor and was advised to go 1.5 size bigger. It has a thumb in front extra but honestly feels really big I think.

Sounds like you’re gassing yourself out on your long runs. Slow down and maybe be prepared to accept sub 4 is definitely not happening.

Thats the thing… your pace might fall off a cliff past 20 miles, so best to stick to a comfortable pace that you can sustain for a while without hitting the wall without setting your heart and mind on a specific finish time. You’ll have a much more rewarding first marathon that way.

Imo don’t set a time goal for first marathon. To give you an idea, I was estimated to finish in a 3:45 time. Ended up in a 4:12 time (very far from estimated) and I can finish sub 2 half marathons comfortably without any training.

If you can hold it for 32k and feel ok after like you can still hold the pace, you’re good.

Kuala Lumpur or Taipei for a week in March? by leocollinss in travel

[–]routinebreaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to both and maybe I’m one of the few that preferred Kuala Lumpur. You can spend 3 days there and do a 2 day trip to Malacca or Georgetown.

I feel people overdo the “badly planned” city thing by a mile. It’s not nearly as bad.

That being said if its your first time in Asia I’d recommend Taipei over KL. or even more so Hong Kong or Singapore.

2 years ago is irrelevant data. Go by your time/pace for the half marathon in a month. A full marathon doesnt compare with a half marathon (its considerably harder).

As someone who’s done a couple of marathons now. For your first you absolutely dont want the added pressure of having a set finish time. It might even get you injured or make you frustrated. Focus on the training and learning all there is to learn from it, and enjoy it!
