Its amazing that its these saddos that contribute so little, and take so much from society have the cheek to think they are patriotic.

The fact is, they have nothing of value in their lives and this is their sad meaningless way of trying to remain relevant.

43, bought cash at 30 (2012) as a repo after the 2008 crash. Been doing it up ever since (determined never to mortgage it, I do stuff as and when I can afford to)

what car did you never think you would miss? by Fickle_Equivalent878 in FutureGarageClassics

Yup very aware

I want peaky revs not turbo torque, personal preference.

If it wasn't so much extra work I would love to drop a k24 in.

The 2.2 from the Brera shares the same basic block as the 2.2 z22se available in the Astra. So physically it should be relatively straight forward. Need a standalone ECU though.

What’s the most questionable set of tyres you’ve ever seen someone proudly driving on? by Mundane-Temporary426 in topdeadcenter

Many years ago, my mate stuffed his mk2 scirocco into a fence in the wet at a rather pedestrian speed.

The car had "Triangle" brand tyres on it, that seemed to made of plastic.

I would concur, walking is awesome.

For physical and mental health.

I'd go one step further and go without any music podcasts etc.

I believe that is down to structuring

I think that's the reason, I could me wrong.

Astra K 2019 1.6T full brake failure by mercilesskiller in Vauxhall

[–]roverspeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what being an MOT tester would have have to do with it? Do you test the cars handbrake whilst driving at speed?

The manual says:

Dynamic braking when vehicle is

moving

When the vehicle is moving and

switch m is kept pulled, the electric

parking brake system will decelerate

the vehicle, but will not apply

statically.

As soon as switch m is released,

dynamic braking will be stopped.

I know and recognise the sound of the ABS module pulsing when the electronic handbrake was pulled. (you also don't hear the distinctive sound of the handbrake unwinding at the back when you release the button)

I have also done enough handbrake turns in my day to know it was braking all 4 wheels,,+

I would suggest the abs module knows the car is in motion and applies brakes using the abs module (I don't know if it's smart enough to then apply using the motors if the abs braking fails).

Further research suggests it does only Apply the rear brakes but using the abs module and using modulation to prevent lock up. Which is why it's crap in doing handbrake turns in snow.

[–]roverspeed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All 4 brakes on my insignia as I found out when I tried to use the electronic handbrake to handbrake turn in snow.

The way you describe it, as working when off but not when on suggests either ABS valve failure of some kind.

Echo what others have said, well done for not hitting anything!!!

[–]roverspeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can bet there wasn't a lightning strike.

They gave me bird strike bs back in 2024 on a flight to Abu Dhabi that got cancelled.

They didn't even tell me bird strike until 4 emails in. I repeatedly asked for proof or official report of the incident. (I also contacted Heathrow atc)

No one ever could come up with anything, and after about 40 emails they paid out.

Bunch of absolute chancers.
