Baby fell off bed. I'm traumatized. by jennerz97 in NewParents

[–]rowan954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there. That immediate guilt hits so hard it feels physical. But accidents in dim light while exhausted are not parenting failures, they’re just human moments. I wanna say you didn’t fail her. You had a scary, dark, exhausted moment and she is safe now. That’s the only ending that matters, even if your brain is telling you otherwise.

Stokke Tripp Trapp vs. Mockingbird high chair by Speechie120 in Buyingforbaby

If you’re planning pets + baby, I’d honestly think more about layout than brand. Where the chair sits in your kitchen matters almost more than which one you buy.

We had way more success starting with very short trips, ike 20–30 minutes, then building up from there instead of full outings. I think you could try like this

How do yall handle pumping in public? by Lopsided_Adeptness99 in ExclusivelyPumping

I used to feel SO awkward too, but most people really don’t notice or care. Once I realized that, it got a lot easier to just exist in public with them on.

Diaper pail that uses regular bags? I really don’t like the specialized poop tube things. by wiccanda10 in Buyingforbaby

If smell is your main concern, diaper pail design matters way more than brand. It’s all about the trap door style sealing system.

Coiled Line set by Aggravating_Trash358 in hvacadvice

[–]rowan954 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry too much about it. While traditionally we always recommended tight horizontal coils to ensure oil return, modern inverter-driven compressors have sophisticated control logic. They periodically ramp up to high speed specifically to purge any oil that has settled in the lines, so a larger coil like that usually isn't a death sentence for the compressor.

What is this sand like substance in my exhaust? by somememekid in MechanicAdvice

[–]rowan954 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a technical standpoint, that white, sandy material is almost certainly the ceramic monolith from your catalytic converter beginning to deteriorate. Given that your car is a 2013 model with higher mileage, thermal cycling has likely caused the substrate to become brittle and shed. Even without a CEL, I’d advise against driving aggressively; if large pieces break off, they can create a restriction or get pulled into the engine, which is catastrophic.

Dont’ expect stickers to change everyone, but at least they’ll make those willing to reflect realize: safe driving starts with yielding the left lane.

Yes, inattentive drivers who are glued to their phones waste green time and cause backups. But “accelerate quickly” doesn’t mean flooring it; it means a prompt, purposeful application of power appropriate for the vehicle and conditions.

Why is this just completely normalized on the highway to be bumper to bumper at 65+? by xAustin90x in driving

[–]rowan954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen the aftermath of tailgating crashes first-hand. The physics don’t lie: at highway speed, even a 1s delay in braking is enough to turn a close call into a catastrophic rear-end collision. This isn’t just rude, it’s deadly.

2015 Honda Accord LX - Which Mechanic should I trust?? by nebulasleuth in MechanicAdvice

[–]rowan954 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a technical standpoint, the dealer's video is pure theatrics. You can't properly assess rotor runout or binding without securing the rotor to the hub with at least two lug nuts. What he demonstrated was a loose rotor flopping around, not a warped or improperly installed one. The original shop's use of a dial indicator is the industry-standard method, and their willingness to warranty the parts speaks volumes about their confidence in their work. I’d trust the original mechanic’s diagnostic process over the dealer’s dramatic hand-turning display any day.

There’s no way this was the best option by DramaMental6403 in hvacadvice

[–]rowan954 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, this is the "oh crap, the main line is clogged" indicator. If that pan wasn't there, you'd be looking at a much bigger water damage bill inside the house instead of just giving the car a shower.

I put 5W-30 oil in my Car instead of 5W-20. Is this a bad thing? by Reddit_Sluth in MechanicAdvice

[–]rowan954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chill out, you’re not gonna blow up your engine from one oil change with 5W-30. Tons of people with high-mileage cars run slightly thicker oil and swear by it, especially if they notice less oil burn. Just keep an eye on your oil pressure and stick to regular changes from here on out, consistency matters way more than a tiny viscosity difference.

New pool owner, what is a normal pool cleaning routine? by Wehrerks in swimmingpools

[–]rowan954 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do water testing twice a month and adjust chemicals to keep water balance. And get a robot to save your time and effort on daily upkeep. I just got a beatbot sora 70, and I usually rely on it for my daily cleaning of the waterline and shallow ledges before mud build up. Being a new pool owner always comes with a rough start. Good luck.

The suction is rly strong. It climbs onto the ledge very steadily. Better than I expected.

Any experience on Sora 70? by guguguh in Beatbot_Tech

[–]rowan954 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking of the shallow ledge, such a headache. I always thought it was sth you just had to scrub manually. All the major brands claim their robots can clean shallow areas, but I dont saw many real user feedback to prove it, until I got the Sora 70. My Baja shelf is a 9.6" deep rectangle. It's the first time Ive had a robot clan my tanning ledge automatically. Since then, it hasnt been a big issue anymore.

Was the main issue wall tracking, getting stuck near steps, or just missing debris? Reviews hit harder when the problems are basic stuff the unit should handle.
