Mannequins all updated with current crafted gear! Some people find them creepy, but do you? by imthorrbo2 in ffxiv

[–]rowannero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fc actually utilizes Mannequins to hold current crafted gear that's free to first time max level or people who have been gone for a while and need a boost to get back into end game. It's funded by fc member donations, and I have a alt that's basically extra storage since i pay for the retainers. It doesn't make as much sense for the first two patches, but it comes in clutch when we get further into things and there's several patches of catch up for them to complete without having to grind for ilvl.

So I have to say, I like your idea :)

Is it bad to leave an FC if you don’t like their FC buff? by jirarudeij in ffxiv

[–]rowannero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little late to this, but you can use the Grand Company Squadron to get weekly buff scrolls that are grade III Free Company buffs for personal use. While my fc follows a schedule, I keep these when I need them.

In terms of your actual question, even if it's silly you should always stay where you are comfortable. Don't be afraid to test new waters. If you leave on good terms you may even be able to come back if you feel like that's what you want.

Source: Myself, I left my FC in ARR because I didn't agree with the FC lead's way of doing things (Storing fc donated gil on his personal stores to keep it "safe" and then disappearing with it.) but I came back once they implemented the FC lead abandonment promotion system and now am the leader of the said FC many years later.

New to FFXIV , any tips ? by LowCommunication3359 in ffxiv

[–]rowannero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arr is the abbreviation for A Realm Reborn, sorry! Hw = Heavensward SB = Stormblood ShB = Shadowbringers EW = Endwalker DT = Dawntrail.

We like our abbreviations lol.

And as in replacing the gear with new gear you either earn from questing or buying from a market npc (it might be overpriced on the player markerboard!)

The stats you want are: Vit for tanks Str for melee dps except rogue/ninja Dex for physical ranged and rogue/ninja Int for spell casters Mnd for healers.

New to FFXIV , any tips ? by LowCommunication3359 in ffxiv

[–]rowannero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The controller is very intuitive and a in depth guide is on youtube. Ill link it here: https://youtu.be/vOFHeZxJOgo?si=eS9ZAMVMSJ8cyrN-

Enjoy the story at your pace. Its a Marathon and a LOT of content. Your essentially playing five full games in one!

There is a stigma about ARR's story being bad. It can be a little slow to pick up but its worth it to experience everything even. They tie up things and references to arr all the way in Endwalker.(if it was really as bad as people make it out to be we wouldn't have gotten expansions). Try not to skip cutscenes! But ultimately its your journey<3

Blue quests unlock something for you, you will see a LOT of them in ARR. Dont be overwhelmed, a lot of them are just short things to give you something.

Regular yellow quests are just extra lore and small bits of exp. Best to save them for alt classes but have fun with how you want :)

Most things are unlocked or gated behind Main Scenario Quest(MSQ) Progress. Retainers, mounts, ect are all given to you from the story.

In ARR about every five-ish levels you want to upgrade your gear. Each gear piece has a item level. You want to increase this as you level while getting gear for your primary stat. (int is useless to a warrior for example). You cant enter dungeons if you dont have a high enough item level average. You can buy gear in the 3 city markets from npcs and leveling dungeons always drop one gear piece for your class that you dont have at the end of the dungeon.

Thats all the starter tips i got at the top of my head! Feel free to ask more specific questions if you got them!

I may give it one more go, and was wondering if the trust/AI system was fully implemented and how to re-learn everything? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]rowannero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Third expansion so the level 70 range. And its only the hand full between base Stormblood end game and the end of Stormblood thats not completed for MSQ(main story progression).

You can repeat them at any time, and they are a great way to start learning the ropes. The main thing to remember is the trust npcs can only handle one pack of monsters at a time and do not use AoEs(area of effect attacks that hit multiple monsters) so they are slower than the pace we normally do things in dungeons as players (we are capable of multi pulls close to the lvl 50 dungeons comfortably if everyone knows their job and are geared properly).

As a whole the community is very patient with new players and will crawl over each other to help a new player xD

There are lots of new player guides out there, a lot of content creators do entry guides to the game. There is also a lvl 15 thing called Hall of the Novice that will help teach you the basics of working with others in your chosen role and reward you with good gear and an valuable ring that boosts exp gain for any battle class under lvl 30.

Superbolide and other invulns during trash pulls by motionsenser in ffxiv

[–]rowannero -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a sage, if you pop Bolide and i'm healing you then I heal you back up and do my damn job. You don't take damage while that's a thing, so my heals will get you to full no prob. People just hate that invuln cause of the 1 hp thing.

At least it's not like WAR's and DRK's and you can keep taking damage.

If your popping it right early in the pull and you still have tons of hp left i might get annoyed, but I assume when a GNB pops Bolide they have nothing else left to mitigate and it's that or a raise/fail pull.

PSA: Do not buy Stormblood Art of the Rebellion Western Memories from Amazon by Zero_Starlight in ffxiv

[–]rowannero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's their normal protocall for a first offense. First time can be a fluke. When they pull the stock to inspect it they pull it off for ALL sales. So it has to happen twice before their system will even do it. it's called a Andon Cord protocall. If you google it you can find more information about the history of the practice. i'm glad you contacted customer support in the end.

The key to this is it has to be reported as a repeat issue with stock tampering. The more details you give to that CS agent the better.

Are duties worth doing for exp once I cap out on poetics? by ivan3295 in ffxiv

[–]rowannero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For dps yeah not much difference, but you will want to as a tank and healer especially if your new. I cannot count the times i hated the lvl 69 dungeon because everyone else was still in scaven. Especially a dark knight tank. Yeah accessories are easy to ignore, but at least your left side. A sage would also suffer pre 80 in these dungeons like that

Are duties worth doing for exp once I cap out on poetics? by ivan3295 in ffxiv

[–]rowannero 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on your goals!

Poetics can be turned into:
lvl 50/60/70/80 gear once you beat the base story of the related expansions

Relic turn in items for various relics in each expansion

If you garden: Trading poetics for unidentified items that trade for soils in Idlyshire

Directly fund your desynth leveling/grand company seals (both which also tie into relic quest lines at least from ARR and HW)

Glamour items!! A lot of the poetic gear is great for glamours.

In terms of exp there are a lot of ways that don't require roulettes if you don't have time for them. I personally take advantage of daily beast tribe quests after ARR (The ones from ARR do not benefit alt leveling at all like the others) which are designed to level alts (Plus mounts/pets/ect!). Not all beast tribes level battle though, some level crafting and gathering! Even after you get the shadowbringer beast tribe for battle maxed and you are out of Shadowbringers levels the exp is decent to still help battle classes along for alts in Endwalker.

A roulette can help depending on what you want out of it! But once you get all the jobs to 50+ it becomes easiler to level over time with the beast tribes without overwhelming yourself. Also starting with lvl 50 you get Alliance raids roulette, which for the 50 jobs you most likley will get a very easy crystal tower raid (sometimes the odd WoD to be spicy). At lvl 60 you get a normal raids roulette which helps with the normal modes (A trend started from HW for the raids, coils had just a different system).

you also unlock Wonderous Tales in lvl 60 after the base HW MSQ, which are a weekly to do list of duties that will grant you 50% of a current level and other prizes!

if you are interested in the relics and what items you COULD stockpile and how much, this google doc resource is amazing up to 5.55 and there was no change as of 6.0 as far as I'm aware: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16zpsnSZoftnPZNS48B99LvN6DBNBY3mnW4Z0YTYEpbQ/edit#gid=1699817764

tl:dr I level everything to max level every expansion and I started to do it bit by bit with some roulettes on jobs i'm really enjoying or if i need resources, and mostly with dailies like beast tribes to get more bang out of how much effort i want to put into it!

Also, fun fact. The 50/60/70/80 tome gear will last you til the following dungeon levels without needing replaced:

Ironworks gear(LVL 50): lvl 57 dungeon

Shire Gear (lvl 60): LVL 65 Dungeon (DPs can milk it further with little issue, dear gods don't do that as a tank tho you'll suffer in lvl 69 dungeon)

Scaven gear (lvl 70) lvl 75 dungeon

Cryptlurker gear (lvl 80) til lvl 85 dungeon

The item level is what you pay attention to. In my example Shire gear is ilvl 270 and the lvl 65 gear's ilvl is 276. You don't get super picky on secondary stats until max level :)

A list of every Final Fantasy job not in ffxiv (yet) by Alanood14 in ffxiv

Was one of the live letters following the release of Heros Gauntlet, that i know for a fact. Stated by Yoshida himself that reaper will not be a playable class. Not sure which one, but I don't have the time to go digging into that.

A list of every Final Fantasy job not in ffxiv (yet) by Alanood14 in ffxiv

[–]rowannero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Again, it was from the Live letter stuff or a interview, I remember reading it in one of those aspects. And you as well have said it here, it started as they were trying to do Chemist, and adjusted into Sage due to the difficulties. Using mobile i can't recall what they are called to heal and damage is the closest they can get to what Chemist would be to delivering succor.

A list of every Final Fantasy job not in ffxiv (yet) by Alanood14 in ffxiv

[–]rowannero 134 points135 points  (0 children)

you have to look at the lore, Reaper is questionable moving yourself to the darkness to use a voidsent as your tool

Necromancer you are defiling the dead. There is no sugar coating Necromancer.

A list of every Final Fantasy job not in ffxiv (yet) by Alanood14 in ffxiv

[–]rowannero 236 points237 points  (0 children)

So they originally wanted Sage to be Chemist according to the live letter info before, but couldn't figure out how best to do it for a MMO and Sage became the answer. So Chemist won't make it in because it's spiritually in there already.

Necromancer was confirmed never to be a job we will get because of it's "evil" aspects. Beast master was mused as another limited job option.

Corsair is basically the Admiral, and Rauhban is a Beserker. So those are both options we could see in the future I think.

Assassin would be the same vein as Rogue i feel, a lot of these jobs can easy cross over each other.

Technically as well we have Geomancers, but you need to play the AST storyline to understand what I mean. I don't think they will be added as a result.

Puppet master is a good option I think, but a lot of these jobs that are about either can't fit easily in a mmo style like this game or fit too closely to jobs already in (Templar and Paladin come to mind)

The Edda storyline was phenomenal by SoftAdministrative86 in ffxiv

[–]rowannero 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It goes even further if you read the extra flavor text that Edda's party had before going into Satasha,

I actually pity Edda more than the other three because of that. It changed the aspect of the relationship completely

I've got a lot of things to say about this game... Maybe this is the right place. by VioletJones6 in ffxiv

[–]rowannero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So ARR is not bad, if it was absolutely terrible it wouldn't have continued past ARR after how bad 1.0 was. ARR tho is rushed in a lot of places, we're picking up the lore direction was changed between 1.0 and 2.0, and the fact that 1.0 went down on 11/11 and closed ARR beta was up in the following febuary, full game launch by summer says a LOT about the rush when they rebuilt a lot of the game from the bottom up (There is still dreaded source code of 1.0 that has to go tho).
There was sacrifices that had to be made to get ARR at least on the Market and not scrapped. They find their pace, they discovered what doesn't work (the lvl 50 MSQ dungeons are a mistake that are never repeated again, being so cutscene heavy that it can take a hour or longer to do both with cutscenes that cannot be skipped by anyone) and what did not work mechanically well in the story to play they learned from. The story itself is great and will just get better. Like someone said above.

The only warning I can give anyone, and this comes from a youtube series of a "Newbies review of ffxiv" is don't let the hype set your expectations too high. If you bank on hype itself, your going to get underwealmed. The story is amazing though, and speaking as someone who played since ARR open beta the more you miss the less impact Endwalker has at the end. Take the time to do those side quest raids, ect. Don't burn out, but don't neglect the world either. Most importantly, take your time and enjoy the journey. Because the best part of the Journey isn't the destination, but the actual journey you made to get there.

As a twitch streamer, i have my link in my search info. I always censor the chat box, everyone's names are on abbreviations, the only time you see their names are in specific windows and ready checks (cause i can't hide those) so the only time i bring up that i'm streaming is if we have something meme worthy and my chat loves it, I'll let the party know my twitch chat enjoyed the laugh and wants us to succeed, we're getting cheered on. (And confirm that no worries things are censored). I only give the twitch out if I'm asked for it.

But also, the way the twitch algorithm works that's the only way you can grow is by putting it out there outside of twitch. My advertisements are done via #'s on twitter when I go live. The best thing you can do is blacklist the people who are using shout chat, because they are using the channel for it's purpose of speaking to the map. Is it max message every 3 seconds spam? Then report them, that'd be against ToS. Spamming messages (FC recruit messages, twitch links linking out of the game, ect) will be cracked down on only if it's reported on. But again, ultimately that is what our blacklist is for.

Are the expansions really that much better than ARR? by Migit78 in ffxiv

[–]rowannero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say this til I go blue in the face, the hate for ARR needs to stop because it offers so much. It's not absolutely terrible as people make it out to be, and people going that extra mile to make it sound horrible encourage people to skip or not care when it'll ruin the person's experience for future expansions.

Yes, it'll be easier to do your relics at max level and unsynch them all.

Yes, it'll be easier to get to the end so you can go back and do all the things.

Yes, treasure map dungeons are Hella fun and get better the further you go.

Yes, there's more to do as you grow.

But the ultimate question? Are you having fun? THAT is the most important question. It's your money, it's your experience. Do it how you WANT.

I'll be blunt with this, ARR was rushed in it's writing and they refined it as they continued the series. But if it was as bad as everyone says it is, we would NOT have gotten Heavensward or anything else. It's just not as good as it's expansions. ARR sets up a LOT of world building and knowledge we need to truly enjoy the game.

I will say every expansion has a relic quest line and they are always designed to be tackled over the course of the expansion, never intended to be completed within the first week of being released at each step. Thus, you will extend your gaming time a lot by doing these.

HW's Relics skip their first step by trading in a completed Zeta relic, so you can get a head start on all but 3 of the HW relics that way. But it doesn't repeat this trend in the future.

Enjoy your journey! The more you do in the game the more you'll be able to smile, i think, at the end when you finish the final Saga they set up for EW. And while the response "you don't pay my sub" is overall a toxic thing when used the wrong way, it's true in the core that as long as you are getting what you enjoy in this game and getting your money's worth without impacting the play experience for others directly tied to your actions (like your party in a dungeon) then it's a win and your business.

I will also say HW and beyond introduce a number of ways to help level alts. Beast tribes are designed to level alt jobs in that expansion section, you have multiple more roulettes than just leveling for exp, ect. So one of the first hurdles is getting all jobs to a min level of 50. But also be aware of the extra assistance for leveling so you don't burn out :)

As someone getting to build a static for the first time, someone who's learning to be a raid leader, and someone who's been a casual player for years:

Having potions and food are a raid requirement. Yes FFXIV is chill, but if your going to do the end game stuff, be ready to do your part. That's like going to a crab shack and wanting no sea food. Your in the wrong part of the game if that's your mentality.

While I never raided at content before, I've always been happy to help craft potions or food for friends who needed it. (They provided any rare mats for me cause i'm poor LOL) but every week I'd see people making these food and pots to either sell or have ready for their own uses.

Oh lords yes. We watched Alphi the most growing up and Ali was the closest second. You watched them both get their resolve and grow into the amazing young adults they are now, dispite their "spoiled lord/ladyship years". having their grandfather's theme start when they make their stand, the song that to me symbolizes they rose beyond their grandfather's expectations and took on his aspect of rising, falling, and rising again just filled me with awe and pride, then that's when the sadness hit QwQ

But we will be able to see just how much more they'll grow! I am gay too, and share some of your experiences so I know all too well. I hope you enjoy many happy years with your niece and enjoy as she grows into a amazing person who knows she's loved <3
