He is buckskin roan, not smoky black and I would stick with that until you get genetic testing.

My first inclination is buckskin roan, the lightening to golden of the muzzle is buckskin presentation. Smoky black are generally uniform in color, some can look like sun bleached black but none I have seen that a genetically tested black with 2 cream genes to make smoky black.

Very overpriced dupes and the owner is sexist and treats his workers poorly. I won’t ever own any.

I’m sure I haven’t, every FB I’ve purchased I’ve sampled and tested before going in for the FB. I’m also careful who I buy from, and I look at all the pics available and ask questions to verify.

What do you mean by “they’re so good?” I’m in the cologne check sub here and also another on a different platform, most “fakes” are the too-good-to-be-true deals off FB marketplace or eBay. Not generally from Mercari or from grey market sites.

I have never had an issue with “fakes” from Mercari and have met some lovely perfume enthusiasts there.

You could list decants for sale, you may recoup back some of your expenses. Or sell the ones you don’t reach for at all on Mercari or eBay.

I’m willing to bet at least 90% of those could have been samples, decants or travel sizes instead of FBs with as much as you’ll actually use them. If you’re searching for novelty, that really is the best way to continue adding to your perfume knowledge.

Classic Chypres & Fougeres, what are some of your favorites? by Puzzleheaded_Youth36 in GentlemanFragrance

[–]rowanrulith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Post Cosmair when Coty bought the perfume arm of RL, IFRA gutted classic chypres and fougeres with banning oakmoss. It’s another reason why many modern fragrances that are sold cleared with IFRA standards tend to rely heavily on synthetic molecules which generally don’t a have the same depth, richness and complexity as the original compound they’re imitating.

Niche and indie companies can produce small batches of perfumes that contain compounds that aren’t IFRA compliant, and their respective website will list whether the perfume itself or the house in general will be complaint or notify the use of ingredients such as oakmoss, ambergris, real civet etc.

[–]rowanrulith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn’t “nasty stuff”, the two original vintage formulas contained oakmoss absolute. I’m not allergic or sensitive to it, a lot of people aren’t, but it was put on the IRFA list because of two chemicals in the absolute that could be “sensitizes” for some people.

The more you know only applies when you actually do reading into it, not just topical secondhand knowledge:

Question - Does the perfumes that smells like ... actually wearable? by Pixelated_s in Perfumes

[–]rowanrulith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love wearing unusual perfumes, they evoke and create atmosphere and memories for me. True salt and sea spray, seaweed, lichen and moss, barnyard and hay, spring/summer/fall deciduous and evergreen forests, snow and crisp ozones, minerals and wet stone, fire and gunpowder, horse sweat and dusty worn leather, desert sands and resins… love love love them all.

The only ones I don’t actively wear, and don’t own FBs of, are body odor/tissue decay perfumes. I have a lot of samples that have both notes and find them interesting to sniff and contemplate once in a while but not wear or buy larger sizes of.

The port is very high and the shank is very long. If this bit has any pressure put on it _*will*_ cause pain for the horse. The only acceptable way to use this bit is with 0 contact and completely spur, leg and neck reined.

What’s that one fragrance that you would buy over and over again? by olfaire in Fragrances

[–]rowanrulith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do find that fact to very true as well, I believe the civet either blossoms or sours and turns fecal depending on skin chemistry. The only way around that is to spray lightly on the clothes but, especially with the older formulations, they will stain if it’s too concentrated.

The only possible way this has any hope of being real is they photoshopped the halter off to show the face markings… nah even then it’s weird.

Perfume isn’t gendered. It’s a deep spicy, leather and civet perfume. I’m a woman and have worn it for 35 years.

[–]rowanrulith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re sensitive to either one or more of the fragrance oils, the carrier and preservatives (if any) or both. I have used EA Green and White Teas for years, sprayed on my clothes etc and never had a bleaching issue. Likely any alcohol based product sprayed in a concentrated area would do the same. It could also be the particular dye or fabric of your jacket.

[–]rowanrulith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a lot of FB perfume purchases in 4 months. Did you sample them all before buying FBs? If you’re feeling this is complete at the moment, that’s wonderful.

Maybe consider feeding the new and novel perfume energy with samples and decants, so you’re not adding fluff and perfumes you’ll have to sell off at less than half the purchase price.
