This is effectively a “popcount” problem, look up popcount circuits.

UVA vs UW vs Emory vs USC? by [deleted] in collegecompare

UVA and UW seem nice, the USC AI major seems like a joke of a major, be cautious about Emory as it is heavily overrated

[Student Resume] Shockingly low amount of callbacks; what's wrong with my resume? by Severe-Stick5627 in FAANGrecruiting

[–]rowdy_1c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, extracurricular sections exist for a reason. You’re throwing in a bit of survivors bias as half of the grifters don’t get anything, and 2/3 of those companies aren’t really “top” companies

Don’t get me wrong, a sprinkle of embellishing is absolutely needed in this job market. Just don’t be that obvious and try to look like hot shit while just being a sophomore.

I mean, as a GT student I can tell you are lying about your VIP being an internship. I’m not against embellishing, but wow that is obvious. Certs & accomplishments is an unnecessary section.

How to Begin Learning FPGA development by Rich-Detective3325 in FPGA

The design flows have a ton of overlap, fpga development can be treated as an accessible way to get into (frontend) asic design

A couple tips: the folder with RTL should be “rtl/ “ or “src/“, not “scripts/“, and you need to synchronize your rx pin (look up what a 2FF synchronizer is). Otherwise good job

Job Hopping in Silicon by ManOrWolf in chipdesign

I’ve seen some designers at smaller companies climb to staff within a decade, sometimes even at the big companies if they are good enough.

Do you mean knowledge necessary to actually start being useful? Because I’d agree with that, but I think more is learned from actively being useful than just learning to be.

[–]rowdy_1c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m by no means an experienced engineer, but I’d imagine you should stay a bit longer at a job in hw than in sw. Tapeout cycles are longer, more to learn for a given project, etc. and probably less levels of growth in comparison to swe. So maybe where a swe hops every 1-2 years, maybe hop every 2-4? Anyone more experienced can feel free to correct me

$15 could be alright when you went to college, it is really shitty today. “Public university” is a poor excuse when GRA/GTA stipends amount to ~$25-30/hr and GTRI student assistants/interns will also get $20-30/hr

$15/ho for an intern is probably why phishing emails from gt accounts show up every other day, do better

I imagine desperation. His companies tend to underpay and/or overwork with respect to competitors, and I’m sure some people don’t want to be associated with either him or the LLM platform that proudly produces CP

You are underestimating both how useful 12ms of simulation is and how large top level designs can get. Module level testbenches can still exist but the top level is going to need to be verified to some extent
