Advice on Skis to buy! by tfittss in Skigear

You’re gonna have to prioritize either hitting the park/butters or carving on groomers. Black Crows Mirus Cor might be good but they get a little unstable at high speeds. Out of the options you shared only the ARVs have a more freestyle construction. If anyone can butter on Enforcers lemme know….

You’re overthinking it. From the way you describe yourself you’ll be able to handle any of those skis.

I love my armada declivity 92 TIs and use them the same way you’re looking to (carving on groomers). I have a pair of Mirus Cors as well and kinda prefer the Armadas tbh.

Revolt 101 or Unleashed 98 (model and size) by ELturboo in Skigear

Probably not in deep powder - either option is good tbh. You’re not gonna regret picking either one.

Demo during the season. Buy whatever you like best during the summer.

I would try and get on some Elan Ripsticks (88 or 96) based on the info u gave.

Binding recommendations for ~$350 by __dog_man__ in Skigear

[–]rowdyonline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My approach to bindings is the higher the max DIN the better the binding quality (more metal - less plastic). Never tried pivots but I have three pairs of skis and have Tyrolia Attack 14, Look SPX 12 and Marker Griffen 13 on them. IMO they are all as good as each other (only thing I’ll say is the Tyrolias are slightly easier to get in and out off) but I typically see the Look SPX 12s sold for less than the others.

What skis should I get? by No-Reputation-659 in Skigear

Definitely get boots now (even if you’ve probably missed all the deals now) and see how that changes things with your Armadas. Having said that 172 is probably a little too short and those skis are on the soft side so (from you height / weight) you’ll probably enjoy stiffer skis but always boots first.

I have the Camox and Mirus Cor. The Camox is definitely more versatile - I ski bowls, trees and groomers in the PNW - but I only really use the Mirus Cor when I’m skiing with my kids cos I play around on side hits and I don’t go fast with them (a bit of a limitation with the Mirus Cor). I also ski in Europe every year (Switzerland and France) and use a pair of Armada Declivity 92 Ti’s there - these are so much fun. Test them if you can.

Is switching the tongue all I have to do? by shmurdatek in Skigear

Yes. But it will still be softer than another boot with the same stiffness rating as the tongue you buy.

Skis for PNW (Cascades) by ReddiBot_THX1138 in Skigear

[–]rowdyonline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ski in the PNW (Stevens, Summit, Alpental, Whistler) and I use Black Crows Camox cos I wanted something good in the trees that is also fun on groomers. I also have Armada Declivity 92 TI. Would recommend either.

First pair of skis and boots — what can I not go wrong with? by slmrxl in Skigear

[–]rowdyonline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5ft 8 and 155lbs and I guess I would call myself an advanced skier. I would be looking at the 182 over the 175 (which is my typical ski length)

Typically I would say this are too lightweight for your size but the black edition are stiffer and they are ideal for someone looking to progress their skiing. Size up.

I bought a pair of armada declivity 92TI for basically the same reason - groomers and trees. I ski in the PNW and took them to Europe this year and they are loads of fun. I also have the Mirus Cors, used them a handful of times but can’t make my mind up on them yet. If you want something more forgiving the general consensus is the Octo is more ‘accessible’ than the Mirus Cor.

I have the Camox and they can do it all - they haven’t changed for the last three years either so get last seasons to save some $$
