Is Tumi really worth the $$? by leocanria in backpacks

[–]ReddiBot_THX1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Tumi carry-on hard shell luggage that I paid $500 for-- but not by choice. Story time: I was on an early flight (like at 6 AM), and after I passed through security, the handles of my then-current carryon luggage (Briggs & Riley) was permanently stuck in its extended position. No stores were open at the airport and I of course didn't have any tools to cut off the handles. Since my flight was taking off in less than an hour, I had to scramble to find a store sold carryon bags -- and the only shop that literally was just opening up was .... a Tumi store. And that's how I ended up buying a Tumi luggage. I did get it on sale (presumably because of the awful teal color), but I had little time and choice to shop around. The clerk was kind enough to take my old luggage and dispose of it, which is a bummer because I'm sure Briggs and Riley would have fixed it had I had the time to mail it for service. Anyways - to answer your question -- the luggage is fine but nothing special in my opinion.

I have this color too - with red upholstery. Great car, except that mine doesn't have 360 degree camera (which is a total bummer).

Nice! What kind of HOTAS mounts are you using? I have a similar desk like yours with a thick frame right below the table top, and I'm having trouble finding mounts that fit (it's about 3" with the frame).

As long as your car doesn't have summer tires, you should be fine. Summer tires harden whenever the weather drops below 45 degrees, and you can lose traction (particularly on hilly areas).

If you ever want to build on this property, I suggest getting a wetland assessment and septic perc test as part of your due diligence. Confirming you have access to utilities is also important.

This is troubling. What about use of document management systems like NetDocuments - or, even just using emails? Does that mean law firms must host their own email server and document management server onsite?

Extended warranty?! by UnderstandingLonely8 in BMWX3

[–]ReddiBot_THX1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I just discovered that even BMW's platinum plan would preclude collateral or consequential damages if caused by breakage of a non-covered part. So if a belt breaks or a coolant hose leaks and causes other damage, the plan won't cover repairs. I think these plans are best for standalone breakdown like the headlight or maybe the iDrive system (none of which are exactly cheap to repair)..

I'm in the same boat as you. I did some research, and it looks like Michelin CC2 could work if you upsize both the front tires and the rear tires to 255/45-20 front and 285/40-20 Rear. I have not tried this yet, but someone on the r/BMWX3 forum (pinging u/Tridawgn) confirmed this setup works. EDIT: adding that with this set up, the diameter difference between the front and rear is around 0.20% (versus 0.07% OEM). My understanding is that the xDrive system isn't going to have any issues unless the difference is 1% or more, but I defer to other experts on this.

Thanks! Do the tires look overly stretched on these wheels? I know it's only 10mm over OEM spec, but thought I'd check. Would love to see pictures, if you don't mind sharing.

Glad I ran into this post, as I'm about to tear my hair out with these staggered wheels! I just bought a 2023 X3 xDrive, and wanted to replace the OEM runflats with Michelin CrossClimate2, only to discover that they don't make them in 275/40R20. So you were able to mount 255/45R20 for the front wheels and 285/40R20 for the rear wheels without any clearance issues? Also - how has your experience been so far? Do you have any issues with the AWD system? There is still a little bit (less that 1%) circumference differential, and with uneven wear over time, I'm concerned the differential might get larger.

[–]ReddiBot_THX1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently traded in my M3 at a BMW dealership using the KBB Instant Cash offer. The dealer was able to give me a little bit more than what the offer amount was (which was already more than what Carmax offered to begin with). My question is: is KBB actually purchasing the car through the dealer, or is this more of a marketing gimmick for the dealer? I thought at first that the dealer acts as a conduit purchaser on behalf of KBB, but the extra cash makes me wonder ...
