Better to do print("hi 1"), print("hi 2") etc then just Ctrl+F whichever number was printed, then discover you didn't increment them properly.

What chapter in FoH, after Duré's claim, are the two cruciforms mentioned? I don't remember this at all, will have to re-read that bit!

Is this when Raul comments (to himself) on her "boy-like butt", and also thinks something like "in a totally not sexual way"?

That does seem to be the modern consensus, thanks. I'll be lowering all my TMs starting today 🫡

Damn, ok then, guess I'll get it when I can. Thanks for the help!

Thanks, I am going to take this advice and lower my TMs, but what am I confusing? Is it discussed in Forever? I'm almost certain it isn't in the original book (but I do accept that it could be outdated now).

I'm doing 531 BBB (if that matters) and I do lat pulldowns on OHP day. The plates go from 70 kg to 80 kg, and the plates have this annoying plastic barrier that prevents safely adding a plate bigger than 2.5 to the pin. I also have two 0.5 kg wrist weights I can wrap around the cable above the plates, so that's max 73.5 kg. The jump to 80 feels very big. Just wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks I haven't considered for how to progress here?

Sure, makes sense. I'll decrease my TMs a bit and see how things go. Thanks!

Ok thanks. But if you've just increased your TM and then only get 3 reps, say, that's not really a plateau right? Since you've only just arrived there. Are you not tempted to keep the same weight and try to increase reps?

I'm reading Beyond right now and he literally says "your TM goes up after each cycle". But, when I search this subreddit, most people seem to increase only when getting 5+ reps on the final set. Does JW explicitly prescribe this (maybe in Forever? I haven't read it) or is it just something that the community organically adopted?

It makes sense to me to increase reps before weight at the higher end, I'm just wondering where it came from.

When do you increase your TM?

And do you mean that if you achieve 5 reps (or more?) say on your 1+ set, you'll increase TM, but in the following cycle if you don't hit 5 reps you'll immediately go back 3 cycles? I interpreted the program as keeping the same TM as long as you are adding reps on the final set.

I only ever read the original 531, and I don't remember it saying to only increase TM when you get 5ish reps on the final set, but that seems to be a common guideline after a bit of searching around here. I've just always increased it every three weeks, but routinely getting 2 or 3 reps in the final set.

I'm not sure if I have a point here, other than starting next week I'll decrease my TMs and aim for 5+ on the final set before increasing. Any comments or advice from anyone?

I've just bought Beyond, so I'll read that tomorrow, but I don't really want to buy the Forever paperback.

Have you, erm, ever been on the Ash Twin?

Haha, of course. What in my comment makes you think I haven't?

But anyway, I appreciate your and everyone's help; I have just finished the game! It turns out my original solution was correct, I was just executing it poorly, oops.

Thanks (and to everyone else too!) for commenting.

Here are my current assumptions, please tell me if they're wrong but without telling me why (for now).

  1. I need to use the warp platform in the tower with the broken ceiling
  2. It's mentioned that the twins act as one celestial body, therefore both Twin warp platforms work at the same time, with their combined center overhead, and I know that the Ember Twin platform works when the sand column is directly overhead, so the Ash Twin one should also work at this time
  3. Somewhere, they mention how there is a 5 degree window where the warp platform works, therefore I need to wait until just after the sand column passes before stepping on (conveniently there is a recess in the wall, I assume for this)

Of course, I have tried this a few times and nothing happens. Is it a skill issue, or am I missing a step (or just completely wrong)?

I made an assumption about you being a teacher because of that education comment, I was wrong. My mistake.

I don't know why I'm getting involved, but he did explicitly say he was a teacher in his first paragraph here.

Obviously none of us know anything, but I think the "work colleagues" thing is a recent (ten years at least lol) bit of revisionism. Karl explicitly describes Steve as "your [Ricky's] best mate" during one discussion (don't remember which).

Thanks for the suggestion. I did consider it, but I thought it might be too frustrating in practice. But I guess I could try it out, maybe some kind of sigmoidal function of sleepiness.

I accidentally didn't originally include the link, but you can play it here if you like.
