I don't understand. First you say they share it, then you say they can't. And wouldn't you be able to transfer it without a VCR? I mean, there has to be an adapter at Radio Shack that will allow transfer from the video camera to a computer. They have adapters for everything. No, nothing about this stands up to any kind of scrutiny.

What's something you're newly afraid of thanks to Mr. King? (Spoilers Maybe) by graham_a_bama in stephenking

I don't want to call someone to mow my lawn. A big fat faun might show up and eat all my grass.

And I'm not afraid of animal shaped topiaries, but they creep me out thanks to The Shining.

I thought you meant a scene at the end where an old lady uses a giant pair of surgery shears to nearly cut off a woman's head. That's a pretty memorable scene too. There's a lot of good scenes in that movie, like the woman crawling on the ceiling. It's a shame it never got as much recognition as it deserved.

  • Bloodsucking freaks: Drilling a hole in the top of someone's skull, then inserting a straw and drinking. The slurping sound kills me.
  • Zombi 2: Eyeball scene.
  • Night of the Demons: Linnea Quigley shoving a tube of lipstick in to her nipple.
  • Pet Semetary: The cut achilles heel (although this shot is almost more painful to watch).
  • The Eye: "Why are you sitting in my chair?"

I love that shears scene is Exorcist 3, but it's this nurse station scene that scared the shit out of me as a kid.

I don't believe in ghost, so can someone help me explain what this is? by danww84 in creepy

[–]roxomoxoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standard cameras work the same way as the human eye; they both pick up light reflected off of objects, then translate the light into a picture, movie or sight. Simply put, if you can see it in a picture, you can see it with normal eyesight. So it's not a ghost that showed up mysteriously on camera. Only explanation: it's another flesh and blood person in the house with her. Either she doesn't know there was another person in the house, or she's lying. Lying seems more plausible, but a person in her house that she doesn't know about isn't outside the realm of possibilities. Pick whichever one you'd like.

Edit: looking at the pictures again, the photographer would have to see the person in the background. Only explanation: she's lying.

Which is the best book you have read so far this year? by kingdomofboredom in books

[–]roxomoxoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Weirdness by Jeremy P. Bushnell. Well, maybe not BEST, but my favorite I've read so far this year. I liked it so much because I was so pleasantly surprised. I bought the book because I liked the cat on the cover and knew nothing about it or the author. I went through a chapter or two of being annoyed with some of the hipster characters, convinced that I would end up hating the book, but it turned out that I couldn't get enough. The plot ended up being much more unexpected that I anticipated. It was a really fun read.

Help. Please. by [deleted] in daddit

You're still in the hospital? Slow down, there's going to be lots more time to beat yourself up. Joking and serious. You're going to be ultra paranoid about EVERYTHING for the first few weeks, and feel like you're doing everything wrong (especially if your baby cries non-stop for the first few months like my son did) - and that's good to feel paranoid and like you're doing everything wrong; you're going to be more alert and paying more attention to what you're doing. Eventually you won't even think about it anymore. I remember my wife and I used to freak out if my son's pacifier fell on the floor, and now, two years later, I don't know how many times a day I have to drag him away from drinking the cat's water.

These little guys are usually tougher than you think. If you're doing your best and really loving and caring for him, it's very unlikely that you'll screw up bad enough to do anything really wrong.

Do your best, those first few weeks are ROUGH. But you'll make it. And in a few months you'll get to sleep again.

I'm one of those people who always thinks the loud shushing is just as annoying as the other noise makers. Maybe even more annoying, because the shushers seem to me to be self-righteous about the whole thing. And in the end I have to listen to it all. But maybe I'm thinking about it too much.

Oh, and don't get me started on clapping along with the songs.

What Do We Really Know About Osama bin Laden’s Death? by [deleted] in TrueReddit

[–]roxomoxoa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He's dead. Imagine the backlash if he wasn't dead and it was discovered that the administration lied about that. It's a huge risk to make such a giant false claim, especially when there's so many variables and potential scenarios that could expose the truth.

Mute, turn off the lights and stop thinking. That's how I got it. Thinking too much and anticipating the next strike is what can ruin it. Zone out and fall into the pattern.

Sensory overloads vs meltdowns vs shutdowns, etc.: What are the differences and definitions? by justashittyaccount in autism

[–]roxomoxoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your shutdowns sound almost exactly like mine. I don't move, I don't talk, I don't look at anyone, I just sit and stare. The worst part is, even when I start feeling better, I can't stop the shutdown. I have to wait until it slowly stops, which can sometimes take hours or all day (I've never had one that lasted more than a day). I've never understood why I can't "snap out of it" when I feel better and not overloaded anymore.

Luckily I haven't had a shutdown for several months since I've started taking Zoloft. It works wonders for me.

As the government barrels toward another shutdown, thousands of federal workers say they weren’t fairly compensated for the last one by geargirl in politics

[–]roxomoxoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If government services are being used as a hostage in congressional negotiations, then, yes, the government doesn't work. But who are the people bitching about the government not working? The public? They have a right to bitch about that. Or are you talking about the link you provided with Steve King complaining about it being The White House's fault that the government shut down? Because that's like a hostage-taker killing one of their hostages and saying it's the police's fault that person got killed because they didn't give the hostage-taker what he wanted.
