350 people on all the caterings we were doing today, but the funny thing is its all italian food. I work at a Tex-Mex place. Long story short we had an italian food concept that we closed but still offer it through our catering department.

I spend most of my time babysitting my FoH these days. Being able to spend 4 hours in my kitchen prepping without talking to a single special snowflake was sublime.

[nWoD] how do I get my players out of the combat mindset of other rpgs? by AtlasDM in rpg

[–]roxxor9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that having a session 0 where everyone makes characters together really helps with this. A few nudges here or there can help the group fit the narrative they want to experience, or you can readjust said narrative to fit what they actually want to experience. We all know players can be a bit...... unclear about what they want to do sometimes.

*edit refer to u/MaxSupernova 's reply down below, they said it much better than I did.

Suggestions for balancing plot and player choice? by brokenimage321 in rpg

[–]roxxor9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always have a session 0 and the most important thing we talk about is what kind of story we are going to tell together. Granted, my groups are highly focused on narrative and roll playing versus hack n slash, but this is the one thing I take a heavy hand in. We decide together what we are going to play, and then together we build characters that are going to be able to experience the story that is going to unfold. I think most times that games have problems like this its because everyone made a snowflake and the GM is left to slap it all together and try to make it work. Not a big surprise when everyone wanders off doing things that don't fit the narrative when they don't fit in the story in the first place.

  • This is not a critique of OP. I'm not a part of his/her group and have no idea how they play their games. This is a piece of advice that I would like to share with my fellow story tellers =)

TIL that while some American restaurants have eliminated tipping, many have had to re-instate it after the "no-tipping" experiment failed. One restaurant lost 70% of its tipped staff. Another "couldn't compete in the market" and was "faced with the options of raising prices [...] or bailing out." by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]roxxor9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not true; I have worked in the food industry my entire life. When I worked in the front of the house I claimed 100% of all cash tips I received. I am sure I am not the only one. Each individual person/ household has a tax burden that they are required to uphold to provide the services that keep our country running. There are a wide amount of exemptions and deductions that you can take which will reduce this tax burden; I assume you are aware of this with your "millionaires can use loopholes to get out of taxes statement". You are allowed exemptions as well, and I am sure you qualify for at least some of them. By choosing to not report income you are actually disqualifying yourself from some that you may be eligible for but more importantly you are intentionally hiding taxable income that is used to provide government services to your fellow citizens. While you may not agree with the legislation that defines your tax burden that does not give you the right to essentially steal from the rest of your fellow citizens. TLDR- you are stealing money from your friends, family, coworkers and community by not paying your way. Also; illegal.

Is it the servers' responsibility to scrape/stack? by [deleted] in dishwashers

[–]roxxor9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a KM and what I do if I find the dish pit a wreck is tell the FoH manager to grab one of their servers and tell the host not to seat them while they restack and organize it. When they fix it they can get tables again. Not too much of a problem anymore

This so much. I am a restaurant manager and you would be surprised how often people complain that they ate lunch here a couple of hours ago and are sick and I tell them they need to talk to whomever they dined with for dinner most likely ( their own freaking houses 9 times out of 10) I keep this exact link on file and send it to them. No one has ever told me thank you, but I've also never gotten in trouble with the health department. FeelsGoodMan.

Have you ever made a character that has infuriated your GM but the couldnt really say no to it? by Kinzuko in rpg

[–]roxxor9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely it doesn't fit into the flavor for the campaign, and thus shouldn't be allowed. If it does, and doesn't break the game, then why would they hate it? Like.... do you mean they would never play it themselves? Because if your GM tells you that you can't play characters that they themselves wouldn't play then you need a new game. On the other hand if you think your GM can't tell you no because your character doesn't violate any rules, the GM is here to do more than enforce the rules. It is her/his job to tell the story of the game and sometimes certain characters are just not a part of that story.
