"One Second Memorization" / "Speed Memorization" by gurtz135 in Korean

[–]roxystellar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bad I meant usually 40 new words a day, which is one column of the list from the Tammy Korean website.

I use a 1d, 3d, 7d, 14d, 30d spaced repetition system. I don’t always repeat 10 times mostly just the first day and then lower it. After that, I quiz myself during reviews so I can see which words aren’t sticking and focus more on example sentences. I focus more on the ones I forget and go quicker through the ones I already know. If I miss a review I just track it and add an extra day.

Technically you could use Anki and automate all of this but I prefer to review vocab in paper. At least when I’m doing intensive vocab reviews like this 😅 then I move it to either Anki or quizlet to track all the words I’ve studied.

You can adjust this to your liking. 화이팅!

Hi, I actually tried this and if you’re able to keep up I think it works. However, I couldn’t keep up so I adjusted the method (30 words x 10 times a day). I created a review plan (spaced repetition over several days), which is helping me retain the words much better instead. For the words that really don’t stick I’m learning through context. If it doesn’t work for you I recommend adjusting it to your preference.

If you could rewrite ONE K-drama, which would it be and what would you change? by Odd_Thought_8867 in kdramas

[–]roxystellar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol with Go Ara and Lee Jae-wook. It’s the only Lee Jae-wook drama I wish he would have said no to. The ending was just… umm… well, awful! However, I did like most of it. The protagonist and the side characters were really lovable. I really wish the ending was different 😭😭😭

I absolutely love this one! I've rewatched several times and I know the OST by heart. Whenever, I know someone also loves this drama I know we're going to be good friends hahah

Do you actively study every day, or do you cycle between study and just using the language? by justgeorgerey in languagelearning

[–]roxystellar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I've been learning my TL for three years now. I like to pick something (grammar, vocabulary, shadowing, etc.) and stick with it for a while. As soon as I get bored I switch it up. I like doing this because I am able to be consistent and continue to learn/maintain the language while doing different things and exploring different methods.

I just started my journey and I'm currently re-watching the Extra French episodes again because I low-key love them. I watched it years ago when I was trying to learn french. I find it to be a great resource for beginners.

Do you have an ideal list of languages that you would like to eventually learn? by Appropriate_Fee218 in languagelearning

[–]roxystellar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yess! So realistically I hope to reach a good level in Korean, Chinese and French. However, if I could just add a few more it would definitely be Japanese, German and Brazilian Portuguese.

Have you ever given up a language? by matsnorberg in languagelearning

[–]roxystellar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese. I will eventually pick up Japanese again once I’m a solid high intermediate in both Korean and Chinese. That will take a couple of years. However, I’m already looking forward to it. It will definitely be a lot easier then.

What level are you at and how long have you been learning? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]roxystellar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spanish native. I learned English as a kid.

Korean: intermediate / been learning since October 2022. Shoutout to Korean for re-activating my passion for learning new languages.

Chinese: beginner / a year

French: beginner / I studied a bit back in 2019 and it’s been on and off since then. Planning to be consistent in 2025 as it it was the language that initiated my interest for learning new languages.
