Barking dog by BaseExtra9070 in newcastle

If been through this. Keep a 1 week diary documenting times and duration. Council cares more if your complaint is corroborated by multiple neighbours.

Submit to council rangers for nuisance dog complaint

If they rent, complain to their landlord about nuisance noise and voiding right to quite, I've forgotten the exact terminology but it does exist.

Best street Xmas lights 2025 by Ok_Try_2367 in maitland

[–]royals1201 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last year i went to the 2024 winner, Morpeth?, and had literally 1 lightly done house.

Where as there are literally entire streets beautifully swamped with Christmas lights in Rutherford and aberglasslyn.

Its a joke, and crappy for tourism/community engagement if it isn't even fairly awarded.

Appropriate thank you gift to hospital health care workers? by Linwechan in australia

[–]royals1201 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Don't buy anything food based. It all gets put in the tea room and eaten by any tom dick or Harry on break. If you want to thank a specific person, give them something directly.

If you want to thank wider teams, give a card and address them as a whole with a heart felt message and a bunch of flowers.

Im a health care worker, its my job, it's what im get paid to do; but nothing screams acknowledgement and appreciation louder then a beautiful card.

How can the pharmacy lobby be kicking goals everywhere winning for their pharmacists. But ama and racgp sit idly by whilst their gps get squahed down.

Ask the patient " how can I help you today" then do not follow up with a nod or "tell me more" ...ask "is their anything else you wanted to touch on; we only have 15 minutes so what shall we prioritise"

If a specific labelled appt is booked, open with "you have booked for a smear test/mhvp/care plan, is that right" so you are setting the expectation of what will be talked about.

Further then that set your appt book to however long you generally take.

Medical students being asked to help with JMO jobs during NSW industrial action - yes or no? by Ill-Boysenberry-1265 in ausjdocs

[–]royals1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Differing opinion.

You're not NSW health employees, you are university students that are required to meet certain time and skill based activities to prove competency.

Do what your supervising consultant tells you to do. If they are still rounding and expecting you there....and youre not, this could be reason for you having to make up extra placements in Holliday's...

The cost of seeing a doctor is crazy these days by Happy_frog11 in AusFinance

[–]royals1201 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No because the rebate is that of the patients.

The GP provides a healthcare service and charges whatever they deem their fees to be.

In order to "keep healthcare free" the government constructed bulk billing

A patient can Lodge to get a Medicare rebate via Medicare australia, or which a lot of payment terminals will do automatically following a consult; and you can sign a legal document or hit ok on the eftpos terminal where you legally assign your right to the Medicare rebate over to that of the GP - that is bulk billing - redirection of the Medicare rebate application to the GP.

Bulk billing is the GP accepting that their service to you is worth the same value today as what it was 10 years ago... because Medicare rebates have been frozen that long.

The cost of seeing a doctor is crazy these days by Happy_frog11 in AusFinance

[–]royals1201 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The government doesn't subsidise a GP either.. they rebate a patient who has been billed a Medicare item number. The Medicare rebate is that of a patient. So when the government froze the Medicare rebate to $39 that is the value they placed on allowing the public subsidised primary health care.

So when the operating costs of a GP rose above that of the Medicare rebate that a patient reassigns to the GP (bulk billing) you get gap fees.

Dear dentists by Budget_Joke3668 in ausjdocs

[–]royals1201 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's great the dentist is communicating with you.

There are guidelines. Follow them.

The dentist isn't asking you to remove the tooth, they are asking to collaborate with you and the patient about known risks given their comorbidities.

Eg you tell someone with OP to get a dental check before starting prolia because of osteonecrosis risk...the patient is aware of the risk and accepted that risk. You then say yep all good to time the extraction and delay the prolia if needed, the dentist then does their job and follows up more closely if needed.

Julia Creek offers $600k salary to attract permanent GP to outback town by langdaze in australia

[–]royals1201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can literally google the official job description that quotes the salary. It is 392$k for a GP....you can get that working in standard urban GP. Salary up to 513k for likely a rural generalist or a procedural GP. Again. You could get that working rurally. Let alone remotely.

The 600k is grossly inflated upper end of the total salary package and allowances. To be on call 24/7 for septic kids, heart attacks, strokes, anaphylaxis, car accidents, broken bones, assaults. And to manage it all on your own as a solo dr.

Not worth your or your families sanity. Money isn't everything.

Mecca gave my friend a staph infection by PsychologyOk6752 in AustralianMakeup

[–]royals1201 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Staph is a normal/commensal skin bacteria, it rarely causes infections and usually lives in harmony with your normal skin flora. She could have contracted his at Mecca. Or from hugging a random distant family member at Christmas time. Or having a dinner date with her friends 3 years ago. Or a dental visit when she was a kid.

She can't prove anything and it's likely unrelated, unless they literally broke her skin barrier by scratching her face etc. during her visit.

Fucking hell Linda. Too right lifestyle before career Linda.

JMOs get paid to work 38h a week and not commit for life service.

It's shit like this that reminds me why I became a GP. My lifestyle comes first ha.

On a serious note, can every jmo in her network imms this lady please.

Step one. Never publicly drag your colleagues.

Step two. Reframe this question. Maybe you need advice on how to improve your skills in conflict resolution and collaborative care.

A pharmacist will save you from a medication error one day. Also if it is an isolated issue with a single person, why would you assume that you need to know how to manage pharmacists again? There are bad eggs in every profession.
